Requirements for acting school Getting on the big screen is every child’s dream when they are growing up. Regardless of how you plan of making it to the big screen, there are a few basic elements that any actor must have. One is the ability to be creative. Any Hollywood movie star that you see on television has a very creative mind and can assume the identity of whomever it is that they are asked to portray. Also, any actor trying to make it on the big screen has to be entertaining. No one is going to cast a person who can’t go up there and put on as show. Auditioning is probably the most important aspect of becoming an actor. Auditioning gives the admissions committee the ability to assess the person’s dramatic ability. Most auditions require you to perform numerous roles to get a feel of how well you can fit into those particular roles. For example, applicants at Yale University are required to perform to scenes from memory. One scene is a comedy and the other is a drama. Being able to transform your character depending on the role is a very important trait that any actor should have. Other requirements for acting school can include one on one personal interview between the person applying to the school and the admissions committee. These one on one interviews are usually part of the audition process. It gives you the chance to inform the committee about why you want to attend the school and your personal aspirations and goals. Besides going on interviews and auditions, an acting school applicant is required to submit a number of pieces of documentation in order to get into an acting school. This documentation can include resumes, college transcripts, or award letters. Some of the best acting schools around the world can be found right here in the United States. These include: New York University, Yale, Julliard, Boston University, and North Carolina School of the Arts. Each of these Universities require a different number of credentials form the applicant, but the any applicant to these schools must be a well rounded individual.
