The Food and Drug administration approves only two drugs for hair loss treatment. They are Minoxidil and Propecia. Propecia is allowed only for men while Minoxidil is approved for both men and women.rnMinoxidil was initially introduced as a drug to treat high blood pressure but is showed an increased hair growth and therefore later it was made available without prescription. It is preferred over its counterpart Propecia because it has fewer side effects. rnMinoxidil is easily available without prescription as a topically applied solution called Rogaine. Cheaper solutions are also available but not recommended. The 2% rogaine solution is meant for both men and women while the stronger 5% solution is allowed only for men.rnHow to use Rogaine Minoxidil?rnRogaine Minoxidil solution has to be massaged into the scalp areas without hair. This must be done for months with patience. It is usually seen that initially, the hair loss increases but after sometime the positive affects begin to show. rnThese days, Rogaine Minoxidil is also available as foam which is very beneficial for those who want to avoid a little greasiness caused due to the application of solution.
