Right Ways to Cut Glass Tubing
When we visit any chemical laboratory or a chemical factory we would readily find many glass tubes or glass tubing through which these chemical scientists are conducting their chemical tests. When you observe these glass tubes carefully you will find that these are made up of hollow flint glasses and are found in various thickness and in various lengths inside these laboratories. These tubes are being used to carry harmful chemicals and also scientists do various types of chemical reactions for their science projects. We have seen lots of glass beakers, test tube inside the laboratories many a time but have we ever thought about the right ways how these glass tubes are being cut inside the glass tubing factories. The obvious answer should be “No”.
So, in this article we shall describe the various ways used by a glass cutter inside a glass factory. Through glass blowing these glass cutters skilfully cut the big glass tubing in various forms of clean cut pieces. Protection is the key while doing this job perfectly. So you need to gear up with your protective hand gloves, head gears, eye wears along with tools like sandpaper and three- sideways files.

Firstly, we should carefully mark the area upon the glass tubes where the cut is to be made. Then with the help of sharp edged tool like the three-sideways files and deep scratch should be made. You should press the cut so that a deep scratch can be permanently made on the glass, but you should not put so much pressure that the glass would ultimately break down into pieces.
Secondly, look to cut the glass piece keeping over a table so hat the scratch becomes prominent. Now once you see the scratches sowing deeper inside the glass, gently put your thumb inside your tongue and apply some saliva over this scratched glass portion.
Thirdly, strongly grip the glass tubes strongly with your both hands and then put a little pressure applied on the scratch through your thumb.
Fourthly, gently apply some force over the glass tubing and pull it so that the glass get snapped out.
Finally, hold these broken tubes with one hand and with a sandpaper, gently rub over its uneven surfaces till the glass edges becomes smoother free from sharp pointed edges.
These ways are the simplest ways of cutting down the glass tubes. You have surely seen these various processes being applied inside a glass factory, you have visited recently.
