Abstract
Embracing the parenthood after 30-35 years of age has seemed to set a trend and more people are going for it and we can see more women are pregnant in their 30s as compared to the earlier times when the age was 20s. There are certain factors which are responsible for this drastic change in the age group of the expecting mothers like girls nowadays are going more for higher education, carrier goals, methods of contraception have improved, they seem to be not ready for having a child, don’t feel the need to the child, strict workplace policies, lack of childcare, financial instability, shifts of culture, and unemployment. Improved options for fertility have also created a sense of safety for pregnancy later in life.
However, there come many challenges and risk factors along with late pregnancy. It is because your body also changes exte ally as well as internally. Women who are pregnant above 35 years of age, they are termed as elderly primagravida in medical terms. Such pregnancies are also called geriatric pregnancy and advanced mate al age which eventually alarms you about the high-risk pregnancy you are having. High-risk pregnancy doesn’t mean that you or your baby is not healthy, it’s just the case where the chances of things going wrong are more.
You need to be conscious more if there is something negative in your history. It is a well-known fact that the rate of pregnancy goes down as the age goes up this is due the changes that are continuously going on in your body. It is hard to get pregnant in later age and harder to stay pregnant due to variations in the required hormones to continue the pregnancy.

The main reason behind all this is “Fertility”. A woman’s fertility decreases with age and its completely natural not pathological. When a girl is born, she possesses all the egg cells for the eggs she will ever have and no new cell is developed in her body during the whole life. Hence gradually these eggs start to go away with the ovulation cycles that she has every month and until you reach the 30s most of the eggs are gone. This decreases the chances of getting pregnant. But not only advancing age affects women, it takes a toll on the man’s fertility as well. Their number and quality of sperms decrease with increasing age and these both factor together makes it difficult for a woman to get pregnant.
However, it doesn’t mean that getting pregnant after the 30s or 35 is always risky or not possible.
