Royal Crown Derby ensures quality with Russell Screening machine

Royal Crown Derby, part of the Royal Doulton Group had a Russell Compact 900 screening machine installed into its slip house. At its Derby factory the production of raw materials depends upon the strictest quality control. Being the biggest global wholesaler and manufacturer of ceramic giftware and tableware, Russell screening machines are used in its slip house, where the raw materials for making clay are blended together to form the foundation of all its fine china.

A mixture of raw materials blended with water, water slip, is pumped into the Compact screening machine this removes any impurities, such as metal and carbon materials. These materials could be damaging to the virgin clay leading to contamination and could consequently result in further damage along the production process.

The Compact 900 screening machine is part of a range of high performing separators, it removes all oversized contamination and is ideal for high capacity safety screening of powders and liquid slurries. The screening machine attains high throughput rates and ensures optimum screening discharge, due to the effective screen separating. Particles pass through the sieves upper mesh, and then proceed through a secondary mesh with a slightly larger aperture size; this acts as a further checkpoint and protects the virgin material while guaranteeing the excellence of the final product.

The Russell Compact 900 has the added benefit of having a straight through design, which compared to other screening machines means it can fit neatly into restricted spaces. Due to the low level ceilings at the Derby factory the Compact 900 screening machine still offered high throughput rates, while also adhering to stringent Health and Safety

Compared to many other screening machines the Russell Compact 900 screening machine has been designed to function in restricted space. Given the limited headroom at the Derby factory the Compact 900, with its innovative design, it was able to fit neatly into the production line, presenting high throughput rates, while also adhering to stringent Health and Safety Regulations keeping to noise levels of less than 70dBA. The Compact 900 screening machine also has an easy strip down process and can be thoroughly cleaned without the need for tools, this has helped significantly reduce downtime at Royal Crown Derby.

In the past Russell Finex also supplied Royal Crown Derby with two other Russell screening machines, which are used to recycle raw materials back into other production areas.
