Satellite TV – Some of the Disadvantages

Millions of people are hooked on TV but they get frustrated with the number of channels they can access. Many people would want to watch some of the TV shows which they read and hear about in TV guides but find out they cannot because it is showing in a channel not offered by the cable provider. Worse, when they ask if they could have some of the channels included in their package regardless of the price they have to pay every month, they are told that their cable provider has reached its limit and therefore could not give them what they are willing to pay for. So many people look instead to satellite TV thinking it would do a better job. After they pay for the service fees and installation fees they realize that they are also disappointed with the service. The following are just some of the disadvantages of satellite TV. Reception is picky; nothing can beat satellite reception when it comes to being picky. First of all the installation of the dish can drive you up the wall in frustration. The dish like a particular spot and if that spot is not found there is no reception. The dish gets hit by strong wind and moves a tad and it losses reception. Even a cloudy day can interrupt its reception. Technicians are needed to correct the satellite dish positioning. In fact there are some service providers which specifically state in their TOS or terms of service that should there be an attempt to correct the dish without the technician the client can be penalized and would have to pay for the correction of the position. Then there is the aesthetic issue. Fortunately the dishes have become so much smaller no longer the big and hulking Jurassic sized dishes which could take over more than ten square feet of space. Today when they say dish it is literally the size of a plate, a dish, and it can be hung on the side of the wall or on top of the roof. Some do not like the presence of the dish for it is not all that attractive. But then again for those who do not mind then they can live with it. The point is, before you decide to shift from cable to satellite, you need to know that it is not a perfect technology. Hopefully this could be corrected sooner rather than later. But if you don’t really mind the issues, then go ahead, have it installed. At least now you are aware of what to expect.
