You've probably heard that saying affirmations over and overrnagain can change your life. You might have even used rnaffirmations in the past, repeating them a few minutes eachrnday. But do affirmations really work? The answer is yes and no. When created in a certain way and expressed with power, theyrncan make a difference---especially when applied with otherrnempowering techniques. However, affirmations can bernineffective and even destructive when you use them the wrongrnway. rnHow do you create and use powerful affirmations to getrnmaximum results? There are four steps you can take to startrnempowering yourself and your affirmations. 1. Expand your awareness of affirmations. They are yourrn allies. rn2. Know how to create effective affirmations.rn3. Energize your affirmations.rn4. Use them for certain time periods and at powerfulrn times. 1. EXPAND YOUR AWARENESS OF AFFIRMATIONS Thoughts are your allies. They provide instructions to yourrnsubconscious mind, to your higher self. When repeatedrnenough, they will change your reality even if you start outrnby not fully believing in what you repeat. rnOver time, your continuous thoughts transform into beliefs.rnYour beliefs, in turn, determine how you feel about eventsrnin your life. How you feel determines your behavior and rnactions in life, and actions lead to results. If you're rnnot happy with the results in your life, get to the root ofrnit and change your thoughts. Thoughts are forms of invisible energy. Everything on thernphysical plane has a spiritual counterpart. Visible forms of energy, such as money, your clothes, andrnthe car that you drive, once were invisible. They were oncernthoughts that coalesced into form and density until theyrnmaterialized on this physical plane. rnEverything that exists on the material plane, once existedrnin the world of thought, in a realm that is infinite andrnthat is not bound by time or space Thoughts are your hidden allies that you can use to getrnthings to happen. Hold this thought with you at all times. rnBy doing so, you'll learn to be impeccable with yourrnthoughts--those you say out loud and quietly to yourself. 2. HOW TO CREATE AFFIRMATIONS Before thoughts can transform into visible forms of energy,rnthey need to be energized with certain words and feelings. Below are examples of weak affirmations vs. powerful,rnenergized affirmations. See the notes below to understandrnwhy each statement is either weak or powerful. Weak Affirmations A) "I want to get rid of my debt"rnB) "I will meet the love of my life one day soon" rnPowerful Affirmations C) "I am now letting go of all limited thinking andrnheavy emotions that keep me from achieving myrndeepest goal to_______."rnD) "I am now attracting all the resources I need andrneveryday I have great ideas that help me easily achieve rnmy business goal with joy and wisdom." Affirmation A --- is too vague and is likely to producernvague results at best. Even worse, this affirmation focusesrnon a negative thing--- "debt" and by focusing on debt,rnyou're likely to actually create more debt in your life.rnTrain yourself to focus your attention on what you want andrnto avoid thinking about what you don't want. Affirmation B --- focuses on the future. With this type ofrnaffirmation, you are likely to delay producing the rnrelationship you desire since you are essentially tellingrnthe universe to give it to you in the future ("I will")rnrather than now. You could be waiting a long time. Affirmation C and D --- use the powerful "I am" decree andrnthese words put you in the present ("I am now") rather thanrnthe past or future. When using "I am", only use positivernthoughts; negatives are best placed in the past. By speaking as if what you want has already occurred, you rngive your affirmations power with feelings of excitement,rngratitude and happiness. rn3. ENERGIZE YOUR AFFIRMATIONS Focus on your affirmations throughout the day, especiallyrnwhen you're in a meditative-type state. rnWhen your mind quiets down, and you access deeper levels ofrnconsciousness, your thoughts become more energized and morernpowerful. When you are in a deep state, such as alpha orrntheta, your sub-conscious mind is more receptive to commands. rnTake a long walk in nature to relax and repeat yourrnaffirmations feeling joyful and grateful. Spending quietrntime in the high vibration of nature facilitates deep statesrnof relaxation; it can help you enter the state of alpharnin as little as a half hour. Nature will also energize and rncenter you. rnIt's especially important that you focus only on want yournwant and avoid all thoughts about what you do not want. Bernkeenly aware of your thoughts and only hold those thoughtsrnthat you want to materialize. rnRelax and trust that your goal is now in the process ofrnbeing materialized. Many people have difficulty with thisrnpart. They keep themselves from relaxing and trustingrnbecause they are filled with doubts. Be aware that by associating heavy emotions, such as rntension and worry, with your goals, you are making it rndifficult to materialize what you desire. 4. BE AWARE OF THE POWER OF NUMBERS AND POWER TIMES Don't allow yourself to be discouraged if nothing seems tornhappen when you practice affirmations. Reserve judgment.rnKeep at it. It takes 21 days to break a habit. It takes 40rndays to make a new habit. rnFrom a shamanic perspective, sunrise and sunset are veryrnpowerful times to focus on your goals and affirmations. Atrndawn and dusk, our brain waves (rhythms) are closer torntheta. The state of theta is linked to the world of spirit. Thoughts are invisible forms of energy that live in thernworld of spirit. When they are energized enough, theyrnmaterialize on the physical plane. That doesn't mean that you only focus on your affirmationsrnduring those two times of the day. It means that you takernadvantage of those times to give your affirmations extrarnenergy or power. If you say an affirmation just once or twice a day but forrnthe rest of the day fill your mind with negative thoughts,rnyou'll eliminate the power of your affirmations. If you want to get a new job and you say a positivernaffirmation about finding a new job, but then follow it uprnwith a series of negative thoughts such as "There are no rngood jobs." or "Nobody's hiring during this bad economy..." rnThat kind of thinking will lead to negative results, such asrnnot finding a job or finding one that you don't like. You need to be continually aware of your thoughts. Bernimpeccable with your thoughts as they are the foundation ofrnyour inner power.
