Fitness generally refers to two different topics, nutrition and exercise. Both of these are essential aspects to having a healthy life and when you are able to improve them, you will begin to feel better about yourself and others will begin to respect you more. Fitness is not just about looking great, but more importantly, it is about feeling great. The following tips will help you with just that. Considering a gym membership but can't afford the monthly dues? Try doing home work-out routines with a friend instead. Work-out videos and routines can be found online at little or no cost to you. By inviting a friend to join you, you can satisfy the need for accountability as well as the social aspect that you would otherwise get from joining a gym. In order to achieve the best results from your fitness workout, stay hydrated. If you sweat out too much of your body weight, it creates stress on your cardiovascular system, which can negatively affect your performance. Approximately 2 hours before your workout, drink at least 16 oz (two cups) of fluids. While exercising, drink about 10 oz every 20 minutes: more if it is a high intensity workout. Upon finishing your workout, drink another 16 oz. This may seem like a lot, but it is surprising how dehydrated you can become in a very short time. A great way to get fit is to join a recreational basketball team. All of the running up and down the court will guarantee you'll get in shape. Joining a recreational basketball team can also be a lot of fun if you have friends that join it also. Treadmill A good idea to lose weight is to join a recreational sport. Cardio can be very boring and a lot of people loathe the idea of running in place on a treadmill. Joining a recreational sport will keep things interesting and you'll also be burning a lot of calories in the process. While exercising, find something that will take your mind off of the physical activity you're doing. The reason people listen to music or watch television while working out is that it tricks your brain into thinking the time has flown by. Find a playlist you enjoy, or bring a book with you while on the treadmill. Whatever fitness routine you choose, be sure to include cardio-vascular exercise. Staying heart and lung healthy is extremely important, and a cardio workout will do just that for your body. Try to do 30 minutes of cardio or aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week. This can take the form of running, biking, using a treadmill or elliptical trainer, or swimming. Remember not to overdo it. If you find yourself short of breath, you should take a break until your heart rate slows down. If you can integrate even just two of these tips into your daily life, you will begin to see significant change. This will begin to spread to all aspects of your life as you start to have more confidence. As you have seen from this article, fitness is not about sacrifice, but rather about using our bodies in the way they were meant to be used.
