Garden weeds are a nuisance. It often seems like they are growing faster than you are pulling them out and then as soon as your back is turned, another patch springs up. It’s like banging your head up against a garden wall. If garden weeds are a becoming a problem for you, then it may be time to start using weed killers. Weed killers have been used for a long time and there are many variants on the market – weed killers for certain purposes, weed killers for specific weeds or weed killers for defined areas. It is therefore essential that when you are looking for a weed killers to suit your purpose you select the right one. There are basically two major categories of weed killers – selective and non-selective. Selective weed killers are designed to remove only garden weeds, whether this be the removal of a specific species or just weeds in general. These types of weed killers will not, as long as it is used correctly, cause any damage to other plant life in the surrounding area. Non-selective weed killers are produced mainly for the purpose of clearing large patches of weeds that may have appeared in overgrown areas of the garden, in-between patio slabs or under decking. These types of weed killers are also used on an industrial scale when large expanses of land may need to be cleared. Non-selective weed killers will usually kill all plant life they come into contact with. In each of the categories above the weed killers can come in liquid, gel or granular form – again each different form suits some purposes and areas of your garden better – another reason why selecting the correct weed killers is essential. Overall, when you decide that you need weed killers to give you a helping hand in your garden, it is important that you do a certain amount of research so no mistakes are made. If you’re not careful, you could cause serious damage to your prize winning dalias or kill off your champion leeks! Always read the label on the weed killers you are intending to buy and make sure it is recommended for your requirement. It is also very important that any safety instructions, which will be clearly marked on the weed killers packaging, are followed very carefully to ensure the safety of yourself, your family and your pets.
