The pros and cons of appointment booking software are something worth looking into as a business owner who books sessions with clients. If you are running a business that is in the service industry that is based around appointments, this kind of technology could greatly improve your employee efficiency, reduce stress, and improve your customer service. Some industries that are popular with this kind of technology are salons, photography, massage therapy, chiropractors, tattoo artists, and the medical industry such as chiropractors, dentists, natural healers and other health care based professions. The pros: ability to manage all appointments online, team has access to appointments in the cloud, manages the customer information in one secure and central place, ability to send automatic appointment confirmations and appointment reminders, ability to collect and chase up payments owed with just the click of a button, reducing client no-shows, spending less time on scheduling overall. The cons of appointment booking software are a little less prominent: Time needed to invest in finding a suitable system and then learning how the new system works. Time required in transferring all existing bookings into the new system, time required showing staff/team members how to use the system. Fear that the customers will not like the new system, and be “stuck in their old ways” and continue phoning to request appointments instead of utilizing the online booking option. Many would argue the pros listed above greatly outweigh the cons. Especially when you compare the costs. A typical salary for a receptionist at a small business is at least the minimum wage or higher. The typical software to handle all of this ranges between 200-500/year. With a bit of an investment upfront, switching a business over to the new way of booking appointments will save any business owner in the service industry time and money in the long run. The improvement in customers service will reflect positively on the business.
