As a man thinketh, so is he. Once you realize that your world arises from your thoughts and emotions, that your outer situations reflect your inner state, you start to see a much larger pattern working in your life. You start to understand how your financial, relationship and health situations arise, why they are so, and how you can change them without fail.
One of the patterns that you can now recognize as having a massive effect on your life is your self-talk pattern. We all talk to ourselves in our minds. We hold this mental conversation with ourselves that never stops. It is on all day long, and it is about your world and you, you, you.
You maintain your world by your self-talk. Remember, what you think about is what determines your next moments. The problem with self-talk is that it is mostly negative, it is limited to your limited ideas of what should be, and it is 90% repetitive. This is what keeps your world as it is. When you finally stop the self-talk, your world takes on a renewed magnificence, it goes back to the way it naturally should be, optimistic and positive.
There are three kinds of people. There are those that are not even aware that they are having a mental conversation with themselves in their head all the time. They don’t know. If you ask them “What are you thinking about?” they can’t even remember what they were thinking about just a couple of seconds ago.
Then there are those who know they have mental self-talk, but they are unable to control its direction and unable to turn it off.
Finally, there is a small fraction of the population that can turn it off completely. These are the masters. They have managed this feat simply by choosing to. They have chosen to quiet the mind and become aware. Their mind is where the body is and not running of in a permanent dreamland that is all about tomorrow and yesterday. But the only way the mind can be where the body is is by being quite and simply observant without comment, judgement or thought.
As long as you keep your self-talk on, you will be bound to repeat the same path, the same choices, the same errors, over and over. There is nothing new and nothing fresh. The reason is simply because you keep repeating the same self-talk. 90% of the 50,000 thoughts you have per day are repetitive.
How would life be without self-talk? Imagine that life is a river called Life. Life is always flowing, always fresh, always progressive and powerful, always clear and clean. Now imagine that your self-talk is a garbage truck parked by the side of that river. Now, as long as you keep dumping trash into the river, the river will be covered in flowing trash, because you are dumping it in there all day long. The moment you stop dumping the trash, it will take just a few moments for the river to clear and go back to its natural reality.
People think that their thinking is what helps them. Thinking is like any other tool. The right amount of it at the right time is useful, but too much is destructive and polluting. You probably need to think about 10% of the time only, no more. Audit your thoughts today. See what you are thinking about. Set an alarm on your watch to go off every 10 minutes. When it goes off, say ‘wake up!’ to yourself and ask yourself what you were thinking of, whether it had any scenarios of things going wrong, any negativity, and so on. You will be shocked to see how much crap is probably going on in your head.
Become aware of your self-talk and stop it. Look around. See the world as it is, without commentary and judgement. Don’t think. Wait. At the right time, your spirit will give you the appropriate Thought. The other mental noise is not real Thought. It is the ego camouflaging its fears by creating all sorts of noise and calling it ‘thinking’. Real thought is clear, powerful, decisive, and lovingly without fear. It is a statement of pure knowing.
When you stop your self-talk, you create a vacuum. Have intent on what you wish your life to be, and hold the essence of that intent always, but don’t obsess mentally about it. Have an intent that will not bend, but don’t obese mentally about it. Simply know that what you intend will be so and leave it at that. You can visualize your intent every now and then. In fact, you should visualize your intent once in a while, perhaps twice or thrice a day, for visualization is creative and highly powerful. But that’s it; no need to obsess. Create a vacuum. Let nature fill it. Life is a magnificent force. When you stop filling your cup with littleness, it will fill it with greatness. Life cannot show you what it truly is if you keep telling it how it should be. When you drop your self-talk, the most amazing accomplishments begin to happen, because your self-talk, based on littleness, is what replenishes and maintains a world of littleness instead of grandeur.

Life Is Meant For Joy
With bills to pay, rent to cover, kids to corral, too much to do in too little time, especially with the Holidays upon us and all the extra stuff that needs tending, doing, paying for? Joy? Give it a rest. Well, I would, except joy is our basic nature. It’s what everything else we do is aiming for. Yes, money is nice, but why? For the joy it brings us in the form of comfort and/or giving to others. Success is grand, but why? For the joy of accomplishment, of expressing ourse
