Parkinson’s Disease
With famous personalities like Michael J. Fox, Muhammed Ali (and speculation says even Adolf Hitler) being afflicted by Parkinson’s disease, it has gained a rather infamous popularity. So what exactly is Parkinson’s disease (PD)?
What are the various symptoms and how can we help sufferers from this disease? Physicians suggest various medication treatments that will help against this affliction but these drugs have a few undesirable effects. These effects include psychotic symptoms for which physicians will ask you to buy Seroquel (Quetiapine) or other such medications. Mental stability is very essential in this affliction and hence you will be asked to purchase Seroquel or similar anti-psychotics to stabilize the patient. You can order Seroquel online from an online drugstore or buy Seroquel at your regular pharmacy.
So what exactly is Parkinson’s disease?
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic affliction that worsens in time. First diagnosed by James Parkinson, this disease affects nearly 500,000 Americans and costs the United States a hefty bill of USD 6 billion every year. Part of a collective known as “movement disorders”, you will have difficulty controlling your movements, coordinating actions and executing simple tasks like running, walking, talking, etc. If you display the following four types of characteristics, you should immediately get yourself diagnosed for PD:
⣠Tremor or uncontrolled twitching of limbs or head. ⣠Inflexible arms, legs or body. ⣠Lack of pace in regular movements. ⣠Inability to maintain proper balance.
The intensity of these changes is quite low at the start but goes on increasing as time passes by.
Causes of Parkinson’s disease
Although PD is primarily considered to be genetic, there are still many conditions, which do not have a specific known cause. One stream of thinking believes that it is a result of unique combination that includes your genetic make up and certain environmental conditions. Yet, usually most PDs are listed as idiopathic or afflictions that have no specifically determined cause. What we know, are just the causes of the movement disorders.
The human brain produces cells known as neurons. These neurons are responsible for developing a very important brain chemical known as dopamine. This chemical is very essential for the brain to coordinate any movements of the human body. This is based on the fact that when the “substantia nigra” in the brain is checked for dopamine generating cells, they are less than 60 – 80% of the amount ideally required. Apart from this, there is drop in the production of norepinephrine, which is a very important component in the control of certain involuntary body functions like blood pressure, etc. This increases the movement disorder as well as problems such as regulation of blood pressure, abnormal tiredness, etc.
Role of Seroquel (Quetiapine) in Parkinson’s Treatmentsr
The medications used in treating PD have psychotic side effects on the patient. Patients tend to hear and see imaginary things (hallucinations and becoming delusionary). If you suffer from similar side effects, your doctor will reduce or even stop use of some of the PD medications. Sometimes when this doesn’t work, the doctors may suggest use of anti-psychotic drugs like Seroquel (Quetiapine). Generic Seroquel (Quetiapine) is an atypical anti-psychotic that alters the activity of some chemicals that occur naturally in the brain.
