In today’s competitive job market, once invited an interview it is critical that you put your best foot forward. Polishing your verbal skills for an interview is important, but in the end it is all about how they perceive you, and you have one chance to make a first impression. Interpersonal communication is both verbal and visual, and therefore Body Language can help you do just that - make a positive first impression on the interviewer. Reading the body language can help make your presentations better than ever, to differentiate between truth and lies in real time, to portray confidence and command respect in any situation and to build a sense of trust!

Excellent verbal skills insure that you capture the interviewer’s attention, but a mastery of body language will insure that you not only capture their attention, but give you the competitive edge to land the job. A solid grasp of the power and subtly of body language will allow you to pick up and respond to the visual language of posture, position, and gesture. You will know how the interviewer perceives you; if the points you make during your discussions resonate positively; if this is a real interview or just a courtesy meeting. Research has shown that the impact you make on others depends on what you say (7%), how you say it (38%), and the message sent by your body language (55%). We have developed this easy to use tool to help you master the secrets of body language - based on a special “neuro-cortical” technique. It is a simple and effortless way to train your brain to identify and understand the small gestures- that convey so much.

1. If body language is a natural form of communication, what is there to learn?

Only a small percentage of the population has the ability to perceive non-verbal signs on a conscious level and can effectively use body language as a tool to "read" others and to present themselves and their messages in a reliable way. These people can create empathy, detect lies, and know the right time to close a deal. Others can learn these skills; many politicians practice body language techniques and employ professionals to train them for exactly this purpose. Similarly, police and security experts are trained to understand body language as a tool to detect lies. In the corporate world, body language interpretation is a key tool in the interview and hiring process of new employees. Some companies even have a body language expert present during interviews and as part of their team for important negotiations.

Understanding body language can give us the ability to read others’ thoughts like open books and to know how to create effective mirroring. The thoughts in our minds are processed into feelings that are translated into emotions and expressed by our bodies by means of gestures, postures, and expressions.

What type of person are you?

By using verbal communication and body language, you can reveal your level of education, intelligence and experience. Through words, you can express a firm grasp of the material and can effectively respond to the questions posed; but verbal language comprises only 7% of message transmitted. At the same time, your body language will also transfer significant information. Based on your body language and other nonverbal communication, you can come across as either insecure or self-assured. It can also show if you are a busy or a quiet type, and it helps give an impression of whether you are speaking truthfully or not. Mastering the subtleties of body language will allow you to reveal important personality traits that would make you a good employee. Your body language can reveal how you handle stress.

It can show your enthusiasm, and if you are a caring person, someone who will take the work seriously, but also has a sense of humor. The job interviewer will ask you questions, but your answers will not be only verbal. They will not only pay attention to what you say, but also to how you say it! Body language will determine if your personality 'clicks'; and sometimes all it takes is a few seconds.

Everybody uses body language, but primarily on a subconscious level. By becoming more aware of your own body language, and also recognizing the body language of the interviewer, you can significantly increase your chances of being chosen for the job.
