No one wants to be fat blob on the wedding day and so, almost all of us jump the gun to shoot off the extra pounds. The start is as good as it can be, but gradually the enthusiasm dies even as the wedding bells get louder! For most of us, the ambitious weight loss plans die down with our weight being all over the place. And, yet again the cycle goes on...
Most of us have tried to lose weight at some point of time, we have set the exercise routines, drawn our diet charts and then, suddenly it all goes down the drain. Almost at a snap, we decide that we need to lose weight, but we have never tried to find if we are ready to shed those extra pounds? Like every other mounting task in life, weight issues too need a psychological nudge to buckle up and get the weighing scale ticking on the right side.
One of the most time consuming results to see, weight loss needs huge amount of motivation. The initial kick throws in compliments, slim looking outfits that fit well now, looking more attractive and the bustling energy – the positive feedback pours and motivation grows. But this sadly is what can be called as the ‘honeymoon period’ of our weight loss plan. And like all honeymoons, this too wanes out, leaving things tough for the road ahead.
So, how do we really stay motivated to lose weight?
Picture it all: Tight abs, fitter body, lifted cheeks, glowing skin, and the list is endless. It is all about the rosy picture that you need to keep eyeing at all through. Yes, the initial weeks will be killing and as depressing as it can go, but instead of feeling sorry about it, you will hate your extra pounds and that will fuel the fire needed on the way ahead.
Shop for a fitter you: Invest on your weight loss plan, go buy yourself that dress you eyed for long; two sizes smaller and all the money blown on it will motivate you to fit in it.
Measure the magic: It is easy to check the let-downs but important to know how far you have reached. However tiny the growth is, ensure that you measure every inch you shed, it will act as an amazing catalyst.
Check on emotional eating: We all love our comfort foods but the only way to make your weight loss plan a complete success is to change your craving. Swap a crave for a dessert with fruits or nuts; this will control your emotional eating triggers.
Remember, health? Weight loss can be great for appearance but it is more importantly your gateway to great health. Those bundling compliments on the slimmer you will die down some day, but the gift of a healthy-hearty grandparent from your grandkids is a precious gift of a well constructed and followed weight loss regime. Remember, a small size is only the gift wrapper to a happier healthy body for life!
