Neisseria Gonorrhoea, commonly known as gonorrhoea, is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the Neisseria gonorrhoea bacterium that multiplies in the genital and reproductive areas of both men and women. Just like other STDs, the major cause of transmission of this infection is through unprotected sexual contact with an infected partner. The possibility of passing on the infection is higher if you have multiple sex partners or change your sex partner frequently.

In the majority of cases, it has been seen that people experience no gonorrhoea symptoms at all and hence it remains undetected for a long time. Some of the common symptoms that you may experience at times include itching, bleeding, rashes, urethral or vaginal discharge and painful bowel movements. In men, the common symptoms are coloured discharge from the sex organ, painful urination, an increased urge to urinate and swollen or painful testicles. The less common symptoms of this infection include a swollen urethra, incontinence, rectal discharge and anal discomfort. The symptoms usually appear between five and 30 days after the transmission of infection.

The possible symptoms of gonorrhoea in women can be listed as abnormal vaginal bleeding, increased vaginal discharge and a painful or burning sensation when urinating. These symptoms are usually mild and less severe than the symptoms experienced by men. However, this infection can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Some other symptoms can be listed as pain during sexual intercourse, a sore throat, rectal discharge, abdominal or pelvic pain and anal discomfort.

If this infection remains untreated for a longer time, it can pose a serious threat by spreading to your blood and joints. It can also lead to infertility if it’s not treated in its early stages. If this infection starts rapidly multiplying in your body, you are at greater risk of contracting HIV and AIDS which are fatal diseases. The infection can also cause epididymitis in men, which often cause infertility. In women, it increases the chance of an ectopic pregnancy in which a fertilised egg attaches itself outside the womb and often in the fallopian tubes. Over a period of time, the fallopian tubes expand and cause significant abdominal pain. If it is not treated on time the fallopian tube can burst and prove to be life threatening.

It is a fortunate thing that now this deadly infection can be treated and cured with the help of various antibiotics. Azithromycin tablet is a macrolide antibiotic, which prevents bacterial infections from spreading inside the body by obstructing the bacterial process of protein making. It is available as a high single one-off dose of 1000mg. Cefixime tablet, another well-known antibiotic, is a highly effective antibiotic that can kill the gonorrhoea infection with a single dosage. It works by inhibiting the bacteria's ability to grow cell walls, which ultimately leads to the death of the bacterial cell and allows your immune system to naturally remove it from your body. It is 400mg tablet which should be taken in a single dose, with or without food. Drinking alcohol after taking this antibiotic may possibly reduce the effectiveness.

You can also opt for a low-dosage course of Doxycycline capsule which is taken for almost a week to treat this condition, and is more appropriate for patients who report negative effects with concentrated dose of antibiotics. You are required to take a 100mg Doxycycline capsule twice a day for seven days for the best results. You can buy all the above mentioned antibiotics from any of the registered online clinics after going through a free online consultation with a certified doctor. The online consultation is required to evaluate the tolerance level of your body to the medication.
