Actions, like those made by one with confident body language, speak louder than words. And when people say “action”, they mean more than just hand gestures or nodding of heads or showing a facial expression.

When people say “action speaks louder than words”, it often means communicating through one’s whole body.

It’s widely accepted that 93% of what we communicate is of the non-verbal kind. This being so, our body language is very important in how we come across to others.

The body can send messages that are clearer than what comes out of one’s mouth, whether or not the person is aware of it.

So if a person is feeling nervous or insecure, their body language will show it. They will not have the power of body language.

By the same token, when one is secure about himself, his confidence would also naturally show it.

THE NEED FOR CONFIDENT BODY LANGUAGE

Between an insecure body language and a confident one, the latter is of course the more beneficial.

When a person feels confident, it also appears that they ARE confident. And when it does, it gives them some kind of aura that commands respect and attention from the others.

This kind of confidence can also be helpful for someone trying to land a job or getting a client to invest into their business.

No one wants to hire, let alone trust, a person who does not feel confident about themselves.

Lack of confidence means lack of skills, talent and capabilities. This is something one should avoid sending to others about themselves.

So now that it is established that confident body language gestures are far better than insecure kinds, the question now comes to, how exactly does one do that?

Below are some practical tips on how to have confident body language.

LOOKS AND COMFORT

No matter what a person does to have a confident look, it would be impossible to look such if he does not feel good at all.

The first step to looking confident is feeling confident. The least thing that one can do to have such feeling is to make sure they are well groomed, i.e., showered, with clean and neat clothing, teeth brushed, hair combed, etc.

Looking and feeling good is the first step to having the confident body language one needs.

TIGHTEN THAT GRIP

As mentioned above, when trying to get a job or getting a client to invest in one’s business, it is imperative to show confident indications of body language. And one way to do this is to give a firm and sincere hand shake.

It is wrong to show hesitation when grabbing someone’s hand for a shake.

What one should do is to extend their hand with confidence and shake the other’s with a firm grip.

SMILE BUT DON’T FAKE IT

A confident body language also shows that a person feels good about himself.

This means that he is happy about things around him, thus he is a good source of positive energy.

Let that confidence exude from within through a real and beautiful smile.

THE NO GO’S FOR YOUR ARMS AND HANDS

There are two things that a person should never, in his entire socializing life, do.

These two things are crossing one’s arms and the other is putting one’s hands inside the pocket.

The former shows cockiness, the latter shows boredom and indifference.

Your body language conveys so much about what kind of person you are.

It is a sure-fire way to communicate confidence, and belief you have in yourself.

Start applying these practical but simple confident body language tips today and soon you will exude more positivity and assuredness with all people and situations you come across.

While I was waiting for my dance class to start, I watched an instructor patiently coach a couple through what was obviously one of their first lessons. The instructor was having them do a “box step,” which is what it sounds like. A “box” made with your feet. It consists of two parts, a forward half box and a backward half box. Each half box has three steps: a step forward or backward, a step to the side, and a step to close the feet together. The instructor was counting out
