Last week, you learned about some of the fundamental aspects for good positive thinking exercises. These all revolved around happiness and good thinking: making positive time, allowing yourself some joy, and looking at the bright side. This week will be about implementing those concepts in the overall program of your positive thinking exercises. It isn’t enough to just have good thoughts; you must implement them in a strategic way to get the most benefit from them. The Fundamentals of Positive Thinking Exercises In order for your positive thinking exercises to work, you must have dedication to them. Life, by general definition, can be hard. There are going to be tough times, no matter what you do to change things. The death of a loved one or disappointment in your job or relationships can and will happen, and when they do, they will make it hard to concentrate on the good things in your life. If you are dedicated to your positive thinking exercises however, you will be able to still take time and reflect on what is good in your life instead of dwelling over the bad. When working on your positive thinking exercises, be sure that you set goals for yourself. Knowing where you want to end up is often more important than how you get there. You won’t know when you have achieved the desired results unless you know what those results are before hand. For long term goals, set smaller milestones or checkpoints along the path. Take for example setting a goal of having a million dollars in the bank. That is a tangible goal that you will know has been accomplished the moment it is done. But it will probably also take a while to get there. Set milestones along the path to divide that up. You may want to start out by having fifty thousand dollars, then 100 thousand, then a quarter of a million, and so on. Each step is an achievement in itself. When you reach each step, allow yourself to celebrate your success to that point. Knowing your goals is an important part of your positive thinking exercises. Simply telling yourself what a goal is won’t be enough to establish good positive thinking exercises. You will also want to visualize your goals too. This is an important step. At least once per day, empty everything in your mind. Then visualize exactly what your goal will look like to you. What will you be seeing, what kinds of smells will be present? Will people be cheering for you or will you be sitting quietly when your goal is reached? The clearer you can picture the achievement in your mind, the better you will be able to see it. Once you have this complete picture, allow it to sink into your subconscious. This is one of the positive thinking exercises that you can do as often as possible, but at a minimum, allow yourself at least once per day of strong visualization. Perhaps the hardest part of positive thinking exercises is the act of replacement. As mentioned earlier, bad things will happen. Bad thoughts will also enter your mind. Take the bad things and replace them with good. If someone gets promoted at work before you, remember that you are going to achieve great success, so there is going to be an even bigger promotion in your future. When a loved one dies, remember that there were good times while they were alive, and that they would want you to continue to be happy. You always want to remember that things happen for a reason and will only help you achieve your goals in one way or another. Turning the negative to good is one of the hardest parts in maintaining a good practice for your positive thinking exercises. The Keys to Successful Positive Thinking Exercises Positive thinking exercises are about more than just having good thoughts all of the time. In order to be successful, you have to set your goals, visualize them, be dedicated to them, and not allow negative thoughts to outweigh the good. With a well established set of positive thinking exercises in place, they will soon become second nature to you. This will make them easier to go through on a daily basis. Ultimately, the more you can run through them, the better a tool they will become to achieve the success you desire. Remain true to all of these tips and you will find that they will suddenly become true. And that is the desired result.
