Living with the pain of arthritis can be hard. Following are just a few basic remedies you can do to help alleviate some of that pain.

Heat can help lesson the pain from arthritis. Wear layers of clothing to keep you warm and if you begin to feel too warm just remove a layer. If you have osteoarthritis in your knees you should try soaking in a warm bath. But if you also have heart problems you should avoid hot tubs and whirlpools because the water may be too hot and cause too much strain on your heart. But a nice warm bath may be just what the doctor ordered.

If at all possible if the pain will allow you try to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes you can ease the arthritis pain by using flannel sheets on your bed. This will make your body retain more heat and lesson the pain. Also short naps or just getting your feet up will help take the weight and pressure off your joints and muscles.

Your should balance resting time with gentle type exercises. This will help keep your muscles strong and prevent some of the stiffness and motion loss. Swimming and doing exercises in a heated swimming pool is a great way to help relieve the pain from arthritis.

Gentle massages may help relieve some of the pain and stiffness in your joints and muscles. If you can't afford a professional maybe a friend or relative can do this for you.

These are just a few basic arthritis remedies that can help you to feel better. Doing nothing at all will probably just make your aches and pains get worse in time.
