Life can be hectic for single parents. As the head of the family with no other adult in support, time is always scarce and there are always lots of things to handle, for example issues over money, trying to get the work /life balance correct, manage the home and chores; deal with childcare and often work at the same time, often all managed by one single mum or dad rather than shared between married partners. It’s no wonder that time is in very short supply! Given all the stresses of every day life, it’s surprising that the thought of holidays can also be a source of stress for single parent families. Despite desperately needing a chance to recharge their batteries and enjoy time out with their children, the thought of all the planning, organisation and then entertaining the children for 24 hours a day doesn’t really sound like relaxation. If time is scarce and stress plentiful, then why not consider an organised break for lone parents? For the kids holidays can be a time of fun and friendship, an escorted tour gives single mums and dads a similar opportunity. A chance for a break with the children, enjoying quality time away from the pressures of the every day. Spending time with the kids and creating memories that will keep you smiling for years to come. rnWe thoroughly understand the types of problems that single mums and separated dads have to deal with. However it’s important to remember that the kids often have their own pressures too. Although they realise the work generated in a small families with lone parents, this doesn’t stop them needing quality time with their parent without distractions. A happy mum or dad is a big step towards raising children to have a happy childhood. For single dads holidays can be even more important if they have limited contact with their children due to work commitments or restrictive access agreements. A week away in each other’s company is precious. One of the issues for single parents on holiday is the isolation. Many hotels are full of conventional families, with mum, dad and their children. Luckily tour operators are now available that concentrate on escorted tours where everyone in the group is a single parent family, with the chance of making new friends in similar situations. There is a wide choice of destinations with breaks to suit all tastes and budgets. If money’s an object, then why not go camping? Ideally suited to groups where you have help to erect your tent, and can spend evenings socialising by the camp fire, it’s a great cheap break. Alternatively hostels or bunk barns are similarly good value but with real beds for those who don’t like the idea of sleeping under canvas. Shared rooms keep costs reasonable but are also great fun and a good way of making new friends. Naturally all families deserve a touch of luxury from time to time too and there are few who won’t be tempted by 5 star luxury hotels and all inclusive family holidays. Why not make time for you and your children now? Choose a single parent holiday and you won’t be alone.
