Deploying a hosted PBX system for your business is by itself beneficial already, with tons of features to handle calls coupled with management features a hosted PBX is undoubtedly a blessing for businesses, however did you know that you can make better use of it by coupling it not with a traditional telephone trunk line but rather with a SIP trunk? SIP Trunking is another proprietary of VoIP technology and by far the fastest growing sector of the industry, if hosted PBX is the phone system then a SIP trunk is the mechanism that propagates the connection between your phones to the telephone prefix that you dial regardless whether it is a mobile number of a land line. By integrating a SIP Trunking platform to your hosted PBX you automatically transform it from a medium of internal communication to a combination of internal and external making it more useful for your business’s communication needs. How it works Pretty much a like a hosted PBX, a SIP trunk is directly dependent on your internet connection; the internet network will serve as the replacement for physical bundles of copper wire thus calls are routed faster and susceptibility to magnetic and electrical interference are eradicated. Basically the technology works by converting analog voice data to digital data so it can be conveyed through the internet, which will then travel to your service providers IP network and will pass through the PST Network (Public Switched Telephone Network) of the nearest exchange of the telephone prefix you dial. What’s in it for you? Apart from maximizing your hosted PBX there are countless benefits you can wield from a sip trunk especially in if you are looking to reduce you overhead operation cost. First is the dial rates, compared to traditional telephony calls to mobile and landlines are nearly 50% cheaper, on top of that calls are routed in business grade connection, meaning there are no delays and lag periods even if you are placing an international call. Next are the line rentals, for too long now businesses have no choice but to pay expensive line rentals to traditional telephone carriers but with a SIP trunk not only are line rentals cheaper but you only need to pay for your actual usage. Let’s say you have 5 phones in your office but you really won’t be making and receiving calls for all 5 at the same time, probably about 3 only but still you are paying for 5 with this new technology you can have 3 lines and still have 5 extension, which will save you tons of cash later on.
