Many people make it a goal to get six pack abs, yet never follow through and reach this goal. Why is this? Why is it that so many people attempt to get six pack abs yet never seem to have success? Is it that the goal itself is just so hard to achieve or is there more to it? Perhaps they have been going about reaching this goal in all the wrong manner? Here are the top six reasons why you won't get six pack abs. If you're making any of these, it's time to start making some changes. Lack Of Consistency Potentially the biggest reason people don't have success in getting a six pack is because they are not being consistent with their workouts. Make no mistake about it, if you want a flat stomach, you're going to have to work hard. The only people who many not have to put in a great deal of time in the gym are those who are very strict with their diet or are who were born with genetically blessed abs. For the rest of us, expect to visit the gym at least three times a week for optimal results. Lack Of Food Tracking Next, make absolute sure you're tracking your food intake. You cannot forget to do this. If you don't have any idea how many calories you're taking in on a daily basis, you're making a huge mistake. Calories are what count in the game of fat loss, so start making sure you're doing what you must to create the negative calorie deficit for fat loss. Too Many Ab Exercises Now, you may think that ab exercises will get you closer to the goal to get six pack abs. Not so. The fact of the matter is that ab exercises burn relatively few calories, therefore they aren't really going to do much to get rid of the belly fat covering the abs, which is what is needed to bring you closer to your goal. Instead, focus more time on doing cardio and a proper weight training program. That is where your six pack ab results will be found. Too Few Calories While you do have to in fewer calories than you burn on a regular basis, taking in too few calories is not good either. The body will start to go into starvation mode - slowing down its metabolism dramatically if you attempt to do so, so just do not make this mistake. Take in no fewer than 10 calories per pound of body weight. Too Little Protein Protein will be the most essential nutrient as you work towards getting six pack abs. Many people aren't reaching their protein needs and this really holds them back. The reason this is so vital is because of the fact that protein helps to spare your lean body mass and will also boost your metabolism the most. Just by eating more foods that are rich in protein content you can see a metabolic increase by up to 25%. This means 25% faster fat loss and progress towards the goal to get six pack abs. Not Enough Rest Finally, don't ever overlook rest. It's important you're putting in high intensity sessions at the gym, but you must also make sure you're resting as well. When you aren't resting enough the body will start secreting higher amounts of a hormone called cortisol, which can actually encourage the body to store body fat. So, do whatever you have to do in order to keep stress levels lower. It will really go a long way towards helping improve the results you see.
