Inflammation is from the Latin word inflammatio, which means to set on fire. Skin inflammation is the reaction of your skin to harmful stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. Inflammation is actually helpful because it helps get rid of these harmful stimuli and initiates the skin tissue's healing process. But, Skin inflammation is required for healing skin. There are two kinds of inflammation:rnAcute inflammation: Acute inflammation is the initial response of your body to harmful stimuli, making plasma and white blood cells (our immunity cells) rush to the area where the stimuli are. Chronic inflammation: Chronic inflammation is also characterized by the simultaneous destruction and healing of tissue in the affected area. Having chronic inflammation is usually not good news and it may be pointing to a systemic, degenerative disease. Dermatitis is the term generally used to describe any kind of skin inflammation, although it might be termed as eczema or rashes. There are the followings Dermatitis Symptoms of Skin inflammations: * irritated skin * Irritation * Itching * Redness * Rashes * Blisters (small pockets of liquid under your skin) * Swelling * Chapping * Skin lesions * Crusty skin * Scales. The treatment for skin inflammation is dependent on the type of skin inflammation you are suffering from and its cause. Here are some home remedies that could treat or eradicate skin inflammation. 1. Moisturizers and emollients help keep your skin moist and soft, which helps prevent dryness, scaling and irritation. Make sure you use non-perfumed ones, or you can opt to ask your dermatologist to prescribe the best one for your skin. 2. Drinking plenty of water daily keeps your skin moisturized and from becoming dry. Dry skin can lead to irritation and inflammation. Also, free from any internal infection. 3. Olive oil is excellent in soothing for skin irritation and inflammation, and it can even stop a new pimple from developing. 4. You should also eat food rich in vitamin K and the antioxidant vitamin E, which can be found in green leafy vegetables, bread, grain and poultry. Avoid overcooked food, food with sugar, simple carbohydrates and certain fatty acids and oils. Avoid junk food such as doughnuts, pastry and sugary drinks. While vegetables are considered an arsenal against the fight against inflammation, avoid eating potatoes and eggplants as they may aggravate inflammation. 5. Turmeric This herb is widely used as a coloring agent in Indian cooking. Turmeric contains curcumin, a plant compound, which acts as a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. COX-2 is known to trigger inflammation. 6. Ginger is another herb packed with several compounds noted for their anti-inflammatory properties. 7. Green tea Polyphenols present is green tea are powerful anti-inflammatory agents. Drinking green tea regularly can prevent chronic inflammation. 8. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme capable of reducing inflammation. The flesh and stem of pineapple plant are particularly useful for treating inflammation. rnIt’s not so easy to preventing and treating skin inflammation, but a good healthy lifestyle, a proper diet and a robust immune system can help you. Check with your doctor if you're not sure what is causing the inflammation or if you are experiencing symptoms pointing to chronic inflammation, which is more serious.
