Before having your skin tags removed using any procedure, you have to ponder a few things first. Skin tags are those small outgrowths on the skin that appear where there are creases. The nature of skin tags being benign and painless has caused many, including doctors, to dismiss them and not treat them as they would other medical emergencies. The question as to the removal of the skin tags would have to be made by the person who has them. In the event that skin irritation ensues due to the presence of the skin tags, it could be reason enough for doctors to recommend their removal. Along with cosmetic considerations, the patient would be the one to ultimately make the final decision on whether or not to remove the skin tags.
The first consideration you need to make, before going to have skin tags removed is the one on whether the tags are really affecting your looks in any significant way. After all, skin tags are quite tiny. Often, some people may not even notice their existence. Few of us realize that most of the people we meet don't actually look very closely at us. For a person to notice these types of tags, he or she has to be paying extremely close attention (and not very many people do so). Still, if the tag is in a very conspicuous place, and it is on the larger side, it can indeed draw attention to itself. But even in that case, there would still be the question as to whether others seeing it are likely to regard you as less good-looking on account of the tag. I guess if you have to make the final decision as to whether to remove the skin tags or not, you should weigh any distress or upset that their presence is causing you and your appearance.
The second consideration you need to make, before going to have skin tag removal performed, is the one on whether the cosmetic benefit is commensurate with the cost you'll probably incur. Cash outlay on your part is a given, despite the fact that you have medical insurance coverage. That is on account of the fact that the procedure is likely to be classified as a 'cosmetic' procedure. If you weigh things and you think the money you will spend is worth the distress and upsetting effects of the skin tags that you will be rid of, then go right ahead and have them removed.
Finally, you have to ask yourself whether you are willing to go experience the pain that having those skin tags removed will entail. Granted, the tag will be removed under anesthesia. But once the effect of the anesthesia wears off, you should expect to feel some pain. But if the psychological pain of having the tags continue to stay on your skin is greater then, by all means, you should have the skin tags removed.
