As technology has progressed over the years, and with many of those advancements in dentistry, there are quite a few people who are still very nervous about going to the dentist. This apprehension is only natural, as there are many reasons why they would be a bit afraid of sitting in that chair. Perhaps it's a fear of needles, or their threshold for pain is low. And even more so, there are those who simply put, fear the dentist. Here is how sleep dentistry works. An hour before your appointment is to take place, all you are required to do is take a small pill which will relax you before arrival at the dental office. When you are scheduled to arrive for your appointment, a friend or family member must accompany you to your appointment as you will be too sedated to drive yourself. That can be very dangerous. Once you've arrived and you are seated in your chair, you will be covered with a warm blanket, and, depending on your needs, more sedation can be administered as needed to help you relax. Once you are completely comfortable, that is when the treatment can begin. Because it can depend on how much work needs to be done during your dentistry treatment, your sleep sedation may be for a short time, or a long time. Sleep Dentistry is easy and effective way to provide patients who have dental phobia with the ability to have healthy and beautiful teeth! Whatever apprehension you may have about sleep dentistry, you do not need to worry about worrying. You will have little to no memory of having any dental work done. Because you will be sedated, you will also have the pleasure of feeling no pain or discomfort during your treatment!rnHere are some frequently asked questions about sleep dentistry.
