If you hear your phone ring nowadays, you probably just have to reach into your pocket to answer your mobile rather than get up out of your chair to answer your home phone . Indeed some people have decided they don’t need a home telephone at all, but this could prove to be a bad move. Even though mobiles have significant advantages over home telephones, it doesn’t mean we should get rid of them completely.

rnWe’ve all experienced times when we left our mobiles sitting around and the charge ran down. If you have ever picked your mobile up to make a call, only to realise it didn’t have enough juice to do so you will know how frustrating this can be. If you are at home and you are able to use your landline you’d be okay, but if you only had a mobile you would have to wait for it to at least partially charge before you could use it.

rnIn this sense it doesn’t matter whether you get an O2 home phone or a phone from a completely different provider. The important thing is to make sure you have one. If you have a deal with a mobile phone provider at the moment, you should find they will offer you a discount on your home telephone service as well.

rnThis is the best way to make sure you get a good deal, especially if you don’t think you will use the service very often. If you have an O2 mobile phone look to see whether an O2 home phone will be the best one to get. Alternatively if you have a mobile from Orange or some other provider, check out their deals as well.

rnThe crux of the matter is that you should not rely only on your mobile to call people. You need to have a home telephone as a backup. Ideally you should get a good deal so you can save money by using your landline every now and then as well. So it may not just be a question of looking for the best deal to use as a backup; it might save you money and be something you use more often than you think as well.

rnMake sure you check out the terms of each deal before choosing the best one for your needs. You might find you have one that will work better for you than any other, depending on what you are after. If you know you will only ever use your phone during the evening, look for a deal that will accommodate your needs. In any case your home telephone could be more valuable to you than you think, so make sure you have one.
