Mobile has become a necessity and today there is hardly anyone who doesn’t use a mobile. This handheld device is built for communication but marketing professionals have found its use in advertising products and services. SMS is a mode of communication and it can also be used for advertising businesses. A short 160 character text message has many advantages over marketing calls. A message gets saved in the inbox of mobile and the user can read a message anytime he feels free. Also, he can save a message for future use. Sending marketing messages is called SMS marketing and it won’t be an exaggeration to say that it is the future of conventional marketing.

The big question is which industries can be benefitted by SMS marketing. The answer to this question is that every industry can take advantage of mobile advertising. For instance take education sector. Educational institutions need to keep in touch with the students so that they can market their courses and get students to run their institutions. Mobile marketing provides educational institutions an opportunity to stay connected with the students at no extra cost. Similarly other sectors can also further their business interests with the help of mobile marketing.

All a company needs to take advantage of mobile marketing is joining hands with a SMS reseller. A reseller is a group that buys bulk messages from SMS service provider and resells those messages at a premium to its clients. The companies need not to worry about the cost of SMS marketing as it remains cost effective even after adding a premium to its cost. The companies should focus on its mobile marketing campaigns. They should keep watch over each SMS and calculate the return on investment. Ideally one should start with 1000 marketing messages and increase the number only when one gets good return.

The best part of SMS marketing is that you can limit your marketing campaign to a geographical area or expand its reach to suit your requirement. Also you can stop a running campaign to change setting, if you not getting expected return on investment. Mobile advertising has made it possible for companies to establish a direct contact with their customers. This advertising method has reduced the role of ad agencies in promoting businesses. Now companies can join hands with SMS service providers and send as many promotional messages as they need. There is no end to the SMSs one can send in a day.
