One look at the plethora of snore remedies on the internet might give one the impression that people around the world suffer from only one malaise – that is related to sleeping problems related to snoring. Yet, a small research amidst snorers would reveal another story! They are perpetually looking for good night sleep techniques – more specifically snore remedies that can bring back long-lost peace in the bedroom, once and for all. How is it possible that despite there being so many snore remedies, people find it so tough to focus on the right option? The answer is quite simple actually. While looking for remedial option to get rid of this noisy scourge, they look only for therapies, without even bothering to delve into the causes of snoring. The unfortunate part with such blind and random searches is that no snoring remedy would ever prove to be effective, unless it directly relates to the cause of snoring – and there are countless causes why people snore as well! So, the essence of finding the most appropriate snoring remedy is to first identify why the individual is snoring. Snore remedies: likely causes of snoring Why do people snore? They snore because they are breathing through the mouth, instead of the nose, during sleep. People are compelled to do so, when the nasal passage is blocked. During sleep, when all the muscles of the body are in a relaxed state, muscles related to breathing organs also take a nap. This includes the tongue, throat, soft palate, throat and uvula. Muscles of the soft palate and uvula may not stop at being relaxed, but they may also collapse and vibrate. When they do so, it results in a dull gnawing sound, knowing as snoring, which may gradually get louder and more persistent. There are several causes of nasal blockage including cold and allergy. But there could also be some anatomical defects that block the nasal airway. Deviated septum, a condition where one nostril is narrower than the other is one of the most common anatomical anomalies that result on oral breathing. Snore remedies: deviated septum and snoring While you are trying to find out the causes of snoring, you need to give special attention whether it is a case of deviated septum and snoring, as this revelation would ultimately guide you to seek the right treatment to cure snoring. Snore remedies: getting started Once you have identified the precise reason why you snore, seek medical help from a snore doctor. Depending on the severity of the condition, location of the obstruction and your overall health condition, your doctor may initially recommend using anti-snoring devices including CPAP machine, nose strip, chin straps, etc. Or if the problem is related to misaligned jaw bones, you might be recommended jaw advancement anti-snoring devices. In case, you do not like the idea of using such devices, ask specifically for anti-snoring pillows. These specially created pillows re-align the neck, shoulders, spine and head, so that the nasal obstruction is cleared as much as possible. There are several brands of anti-snoring pillows each having its unique selling points. Your doctor could be the best judge to recommend the most suitable brand for you. As is evident, there is no dearth of snore remedies, but to find the ones most suitable for you, know why you snore.
