We are all aware of what social media is and what it has done to change each and every one of our lives. Talking to friends and family has never been this easy and marketing strategies are well on their way to a whole new platform. Maybe one day our world will truly be tarpaulin free. But for now, let’s take a look at what we can expect from the Social Media platform in 2011:

1. Boost in Email Marketing. While email marketing has been around for some time now, these messages are making sure consumers won’t back out. This year’s theme is share; and email marketing is making it easy for its recipients to spread the word with the click of a button.

2. Push for Mobile Marketing. With the rise of smart phones and androids, there’s no doubt the social media will expand in 2011, travelling with consumers as they go about their daily activities. With location-based applications invading our live feeds, every place gets its own advertisement through its consumers.

3. Shift in Video Platforms. Television is up against the giant that is the internet. This year, TV and web are collaborating with interactive broadcast platforms and continued live streaming.

4. Higher Bandwidth. Have you ever imagined a life with 4G? It is going to blow you away as marketers have the power to publish messages quicker and with incredible download time.

5. Wide use of presentation platforms. Web seminars are stepping it up this year to fill in the need of the market as seminar platforms provide smooth streaming and immediate interaction. I can imagine it is going to be quite the year; and web 3.0 is well on its way to replacing our precious 2.0. It’s about time we found strategies to making the most of our social media platforms and connect with our consumers in ways we never have before.
