Disrespectful "back talk"
Picky eatingr
Refusing to do household chores or schoolworkr
Lyingr
Dawdling when you need to leaver
Drifting off taskr
Whining helplesslyr
Resisting bedtimer
Sibling rivalry
The following solutions can make it easier for you to handle and improve child behavior.
Child Behavior Solution #1: It Is Hardr
Anyone who believes that handling child behavior is easy has very limited experience with children. If you find yourself feeling taxed to the max by a disturbing behavior that your child displays, your solution begins with not beating yourself up over it. Truly successful child behavior management occasionally overwhelms even the most skillful parents.
Child Behavior Solution #2: Peace-Poise-Powerr
As hard as it can be to deal with child behavior, you can make it easier and do a better job in the process by maintaining your peace and poise under all circumstances. When you lose your peace and poise, you make yourself miserable and you lose your power to effectively lead your child. You can diminish the degree of anger and stress you experience if you remember that you will feel and do much better in a state of calm confidence.
Child Behavior Solution #3: Have Realistic Expectationsr
It's impossible for a child to behave well all the time, even under the best of circumstances. (As we precede you'll understand some of the "best circumstances" for child behavior.) So don't strain yourself trying to "fix" everything. Even when your child's behavior seems outrageous, she may be giving you her best under the circumstances. By reacting harshly you may only make her lose the motivation to try her best. If you feel very displeased by unruly child behavior, your unrealistic expectations may be the cause.
Child Behavior Solution #4: Don't Be Too Hard On Your Childr
Child behavior, health and happiness go together. Effective child behavior modification must take this into account. Your child needs to feel good physically and emotionally to display descent behavior. A child who feels sick, sleepy, angry or insecure is a child whose behavior must falter. So avoid the common mistake of intensifying harshness to improve child behavior. Overly harsh parental reactions make children feel too angry and insecure to do their best.
Child Behavior Solution #5: Establish Boundaries Correctlyr
While positive child behavior is rooted in child happiness, you cannot always give your child his way. You sometimes need to establish boundaries even if it makes your child feel badly for a while. Child behavior worsens, however, when we establish boundaries that are not really in line with the child's best interests, that are too strict, or are too harshly imposed.
Child Behavior Solution #6: Provide The Best Possible Influences
Six major influences impact child behavior. To help children do their best, provide them with :
A regular, orderly, unrushed daily routiner
An orderly, harmonious, loving home environmentr
Individuals who model responsible, respectful self-conductr
A consistent, convincing demonstration of unconditional lover
An abundance of freedom to explore their environments, to follow their interests, and to demonstrate and develop their physical strength, courage and abilitiesr
A sufficient amount of quality time with parents and other primary family members
Whatever child behavior challenge you face, it is virtually guaranteed that one of more of these influences at least contribute to the problem. To improve child behavior look over this list to determine where more work is needed. Overlooking any of these influences or their impact on child behavior causes parents to feel powerless and frustrated.
