Thousands of people are suffering from hunger around the world. Hunger is one of the leading problems that often affect People with the low-incomes, due to the lack of basic needs such as food, water, adequate shelter, and clothing, etc. According to the report issued by United Nations Food and Agencies on World Hunger Statistics, there are 690 million people in the world who sleep hungry. The ratio of people affected by hunger is increasing day by day.rnBelow we have come up with some concerning world hunger statistics that need to be addressed urgently to prevent an increase in global famine. 1. Hunger is rising continuously Do you know how many people in the world sleep with empty stomachs? It has been estimated that around 8.9% of the world suffers from hunger which is almost 690 million people around the globe and the numbers are constantly rising. It will exceed more than 840million by 2030 if the growth rate of hunger will remain the same. 2. The world is not on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal for hunger The hunger sustainable development aims to end the hunger from the world by 2030. But due to the constant rise in the number of people facing famine conditions, this goal doesn't seem to get fulfilled. The global pandemic has only made the conditions worst, where according to some statistics it has pushed around 83 million to 132 million more people towards famine. 3. Some regions have a higher proportion of malnourished people than others There are some regions around the globe where people experience the highest undernourishment prevalence, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean are a few of them. As per current reports, 22% African population and 16.6% of the Caribbean population suffer from severe hunger as compare to the other part of the world which is expected to increase by 2030. 4. Healthy food is still out of reach for the people live in poverty Over the past few years, poverty rates have been drastically decreased from 36% to 9.2%. However, people are still not getting nutritious food due to the rise in food prices and reduced purchasing capacity which has affected widely in recent years. People living in extreme poverty are unable to afford Healthy food till now.rnThe world economy has also been drastically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has slowed down the progress of eliminating poverty from the world. According to the World Bank, 88 million to 115 million more people will experience extreme poverty in 2020 and it will rise to 150million by the end of 2021. 5. Undernourished children despite economic growth It can be seen in the last few years that even countries with higher economic growth aren’t able to transfer the economic progress towards all segments of society. This leaves millions of people; especially children in increasingly vulnerable positions to be pushed into famine conditions. Development programs that work for child hunger and empowerment to have a healthier life are important for food security.
