Oh boy how I hate those blood thirsty creatures and the nasty itches they cause after feeding on our blood. Yesterday we went camping really close by to a river and you know how insects love water and humid places. The mosquitoes were so big, that when they landed on the fence the dogs started barking at them – imagine that. However a friend of mine came really prepared for the pesky situation we were in – let me share some of his knowledge and inform you how you can save yourself from mosquito attacks. Repellent sprays and cremes – some of those really work but others.. Okay, let's say that they don't get the job done, especially if a person has delicate skin or allergies to some chemicals. However, we sprayed ourselves with a Chinese product of some kind which really worked, at least for the first night (because sadly, we used it all). On the next day of our camping trip, when we used up all the repellent sprays we faced a real problem in the face of those annoyingly buzzing vampires. There were so many of them that we had to go to the city and purchase more protection. Sadly all the repellent sprays in the pharmacies and stores were out of stock so we bought the only item available for purchase - repellent candles. You light them and the smoke is supposed to keep the mosquitoes away from you. At least thats what the lady at the store said. In my opinion the effect was the exact opposite – we just made the buzzing fliers mad as hell. The whole night mosquitoes feasted on our helpless sleeping bodies and on the next day the itching never stopped. That's when I remembered the advice given by my dear old granny – in case of mosquito bites use baking soda on the itchy spot to stop the itch. First sprinkle some water in order for the soda to be accumulated better by your skin, afterwards rub in a significant amount of baking soda with your hands. The effect is almost instant – the itch really stops! After we defeated our itching problem I called my grandmother to ask her if she knows some other tactic that we may use to repel the mosquitoes. Oh, how I love that woman – vinegar she said. White vinegar works as an excellent repellent - apply it on your whole body and the mosquitoes will not touch you. Vinegar really saved us that time, if only I've asked my granny before the camping trip. Oh well, at least now I know how to save myself from those nasty mosquitoes. Hopefully vinegar will work for you as well.
