Introduction Dhanteras is the auspicious festival of Wealth (Dhanwantari Triodasi). Dhanteras Puja falls in the month of Kartik (Oct-Nov) on the 13th day of the dark fortnight. The name “Dhanteras“is formed from the union of the two words Dhan and Teras. “Dhan” meaning wealth and “teras” meaning that this auspicious day falls on the 13th day of Krishna paksh (dark fortnight). Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi is the most important religious ceremony performed on the first day out of 5th days of Diwali puja and rituals. This special festival is also known as Yamadeepdaan as the ladies of the house light earthen lamps or ‘deep’ throughout the night to worship Yama, the god of Death.
