An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But,what if you don't like eating apples? n nWalking is good for health. But, what if you hate getting up early and you are too tired to go for a walk during evening....nnA friend of mine loves going for long drives during weekend. He has been doing this for close to five years. Long drives start of as a fad and eventually end up as a recreational habit.... Three months back, i asked him if he would like to join me for something adventurous.....nn"I am going on a long drive to xxxxx, this weekend." he told me. nn" I have reserved something more special and interesting for you this weekend.Come over to my place. We will have lots of fun.." I told him....nnHe was a close friend of mine and he knew i never joked....nnHe arrived at 9.00 am sharp to my place. There were a group of ten people.nn"We have to cover 26 kms in ten hours..." I told him..nnI handed over the map to him. "First two kms we will all be together and then we have to be on our own. We will meet at various checkpoints but for most of the time we have to walk alone...."nn"What are you talking Vish. Are you insane? Walk 26 kms and that too alone....." asked my friend.nn"Yes ! You have to walk 26 kms and you have to walk alone... You will love it..... I promise you...You will enjoy it more than your long drive....nn"But why do I have to walk 26 kms when i can drive the same distance..." Why do i have to tire myself up...? " asked my friend....nn"Here is the secret... Short walks are good for physical health. But long walks are good for your spiritual health. Long walks remove all the impurities in you. It rids you of your wickedness,jealousy and restores your child like purity back to you.... Long walk is like taking a new birth..... nnWhen you go for a long walk, imagine that you are in still in your mothers womb and you are waiting to get out into this world. The only person whom you can converse with during this period is your mother..... You can ask yourself any question during this period and you will get the best answers... When you have got all your questions answered you would have reached your destination.... Till then keep asking and exploring your mothers womb..... nnShort walks are the invention of the current generation. It is good only for your physical health. There are many great men and women who have achieved liberation walking great distances. Long distance walking has got the capacity to heal all your past traumas. When you walk with the spirit of goodness you set in motion a force which works in the background for you... It attends to all your past problems, your concerns,worries and works deep within you. It reaches the source of your problems and traumas and heals you permanently...Long walks have been one of pillars of great strengths of many spiritual and great leaders in the past.....nn"Why do i have to walk alone" asked my friend ? Why can't we walk in groups?nnGoodness and purity never boasts about themselves. They are silent. They are more powerful than the greatest orator in the world.. Goodness and purity cannot be shared.It can only be experienced individually. One cannot authenticate or judge another person's goodness or purity completely.Even the greatest minds have built many backdoors which are not visible to human eye and hence it is advisable to travel alone to explore and authenticate your own being. No mind however close in relation to you can ever understand the deepest rumblings in your mind.... nnYou can however meet at various places and share your spiritual experiences but you have to travel alone...... God confides with only one person at a time... "nnReluctantly my friend agreed to everything i said and participated in the adventure.... Later, he did not speak to me for two months. I too did not call him... Last weekend he gave me a call." Would you like to join me for a long drive,Vish. You will enjoy it more than your long walks..." I loved my friend and did not want to fight with him and so I landed at his place.... The parking lot was empty. There were a group of twenty five enthusiastic people. Each of them wore a white Tshirt which read " It is good to walk half a km but it is great to cover 45 kms. We prefer long distance walking..Come Join Us....."nnMy friend smiled. I grinned. He had beaten me in my own game....nnWalk yourself to glory.....
