For every up, there is a down; when the sun rises, it is followed by a sunset set; what contracts, will then expand.
Such are the cycles of life. Such are the seasons.
During summer, we are expansive.
During the fall, we contract. In the Winter we continue to contract.
In the spring we expand once again.
After hibernating for many months, planning and waiting, the time then comes for new beginnings and growth--to bloom like a flower and be reborn! Spring is a time for new ideas and plans; for visualizing and anticipating future accomplishments. It is a time to begin acting upon these plans, making decisions, and setting them in motion.
The spring is also a time to be out-doors after being cooped up inside all winter. It is a time for physical activity and movement, for stretching your tendons and muscles. Spring is also the time of cleansing, or ‘spring cleaning’.
Now is the time to reach for the highest height, especially when you feel grounded or rooted to a firm home base or in knowing who you are. Contemplate these wonderful qualities:
- Assertiveness
- Confidence
- Compassion
- Tolerance
- Ambition
- Adventurousness
- Adaptability
- Enjoyment of challenges
- Strength and flexibility of both mind and body
If you have a hard time getting in touch with these qualities, think about a child who is playful, inquisitive, adventurous, is running around a ll the time, flexible and adaptable and confident. At the same time, think about a wise sage who is compassionate and tolerant.
Combine the two, and you have you in the spring!
The goal for bringing harmony in the spring iis flexibility and adaptability, rhythm and flow. Relaxation techniques are very effective in decreasing muscle tension and nervous tension.
Positive verbal commands like “I am a child of perfection, I am at peace, I am in flow,” can be helpful.
Needing movement, you will benefit from any exercise, like running, walking, swimming or skiing, or such activities as yoga and stretching.
Eat lots of vegetables and fruits.
Try to avoid as much as possible any stimulants and sedatives, smoking and excessive alcohol, and take prescription medications as necessary.
Cleans out the old and bring in the new! Enjoy the spring!
