Sri Lanka is a traveler’s paradise, it was known as a beautiful country from ancient times but the civil war which lasted for 30 years gave the tourism Industry a big jolt. Fortunately, Tourist were never target but still there were possibility of being caught in the cross fire. But, with the end of war, Tourism Industry is flourishing like anything.

It is worth mentioning that Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon before independence in 1948. It is located in the southern coast of India betwee
Arabia and East Asia. Naturally, it is very rich in exotic beaches, tropical forests, waterfalls and picturesque hills stations etc and above all valuable climatic contrast bloom the natural beauty of this island. This island is also known as the Pearl of the Orient, or the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Furthermore, Spectacular hospitality extended from deep hearts of people of Sri Lanka, is beyond doubt the testimony of rich cultural heritage that has lasted over 2500 years

As an island, the main attractions for tourists are the beach that surrounds the country. Although the tourist can enjoy the sun and swimming in the sea in almost every beach in the country, but there are spectacular and favorite beaches which are very popular among tourists. Beaches like Trincomalee and Nilaveli are very popular among the tourists which were opened recently. Tourists will be delighted to learn that “Nilaveli Beach” is considered one of the best places for surfing. There are many other activities, such as whales and dolphins watching, diving and surfing for tourists.

Another attraction is Wild Life Safari; exploring wild life safari is very popular activity among tourists. Besides “Yala national park”, which is very famous, there are many other nature reserves and national parks across the country. Animals like elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, wild boars, deer, monkeys, can found almost in all national parks and can also are seen easily. One of the most difficult animals to see are the leopard and the bear and the bear is the most difficult to see.

Moreover, if you are looking for a different kind of activities like seeing the animal from very close, then visiting the “Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage” might be a good idea. There you can notice elephants in the semi wild life condition and you can also participate in activities like feeding baby elephants through bottle.

Besides these things, there are many things you can do during you tour of Sri Lanka, like visiting archaeological sites , shopping in malls or just enjoy a relaxing holiday in one of the luxury hotels. You can also visit the world heritage sites. So when you plan for holidaying, Sri Lanka is one of the best locations to explore.
