Staff Selection Commission - Major Functions

Today, the youth has rejected the dominating career choices offered by Public sector in India. They are more inclined towards government jobs. Why wouldn't they be? The government decided to set up a commission which would handle the affairs related to recruitment for non-technical department posts in the government. This commission came to be known as Staff Selection Commission (SSC). It has worked efficiently for years now, and recruits the best out of the thousands who appear for various exams. It has its offices spread throughout the country which handle the exams of the respective state and its neighboring states. SSC exam question papers are known to be very challenging. It is due to the highly qualified team members which are a part of the commission. They prepare high standard question paper and also prescribe a vast syllabus covering different areas.rnSSC has major functions, some of them are: The main responsibility of the Staff Selection Commission is to make recruitment to (non-technical) and (non-gazette- both technical & non-technical) posts in various departments of the government. its attached & subordinate offices except those for which recruitment is made by the Railway Recruitment Boards & Industrial Establishments. It also conducts typewriting tests, both in English and in Hindi. It conducts exams and interviews. SSC also promotes candidates based on their performance in the specific field of area. The major discussions regarding special candidates are discussed in the main office of SSC. There, the annual report is also presented and discussed. Changes if required are made through votes. SSC recruits candidates for the post of statistical investigator, divisional accountant, lower divisional clerk, stenography, junior engineer (civil and electrical) etc. The regional SSC offices are responsible for conducting exams and interviews in their respective areas. If any difficulty arises, the matter is taken to the main office where it is scrutinized and it is dealt with care.rnThese are some responsibilities undertaken by SSC, which it fulfills with efficiency. There are various exams conducted in different time of the year. In 2011, it will hold combined graduate level exam and also published scientific assistant vacancies.
