Stainless Steel or Bronze – Door Handles to Choose From

When you are planning to spend several thousands of dollars to remodel your home or build a brand new home, it is a really good idea to plan every little aspect, right on down to the door handles you want to install. When you finally get to the place where you are deciding what door knobs you want to use, keep in mind that you have more choices than you might realize. You can go with traditional door knobs – those cute little round numbers that adorn most houses – or you can decide to go with designer handles that are anything but traditional and cute and small and round. Stainless steel is always an iron alloy whereas bronze is often alloyed with tin or aluminum. What this means for you is that stainless steel door handles might be a tiny smidge tougher than bronze door handles but, the bronze is easier to work with thus allowing for many more different shapes and textures that are available in stainless steel. If you decide to install bronze door handles instead of stainless steel ones, do not worry. Bronze is every bit as strong and easy to maintain as stainless steel because it is made of tin or aluminum, both of which are incredibly strong metals. And, because tin and aluminum are so much more malleable than steel, you can often find bronze door handles in more styles. No matter what you decide in the final stages of your remodeling plans, know that either type of handle – bronze or stainless steel- have a lot of good qualities and, your final decision will really come down to the look you want for your home.
