Work from home is a daunting chore. Yes, it can be financially and emotionally rewarding especially if you know how to manage your time well. But whether you are managing your own home based business or taking on different home based jobs, there will be a lot of detrimental factors from working at home that may affect your health. Take for example the lack of exercise especially if your job mostly has to do with online work. Despite the apparent idle time and the comfortable environment, work from home may pull down your health if you are not careful.
Here are a few easy to-dos that can improve or maintain your health:
Prepare Healthy Home cooked meals
We know you’re tired and the call to order fast food is tempting but consider this. Fast food has a lot of empty calories and artificial ingredients which can actually make you more tired and sleepy than you already are. For someone taking care of his home based business, this is a definite no-no. So take time to prepare a home cooked meal. It doesn’t have to be fancy. To make it easier, have a menu ready at the beginning of the week and get your grocery lists right for easier shopping later on. Cook the meals in one take and reheat it when needed if you really are pressed for time. It might be adding to your list ofrnchores but your body will thank you for it in the long run.
Get Good Alte
atives for your Munchies
When you work from home, most especially when your home based jobs involve a lot of computer time, you will be more likely to have a case of the munchies. The easiest types to stock up on are obviously chips or ready-made pastries. Why don’t you stock up on healthier substitutes instead like low-calorie pizzas, cookies and bread? Better yet, get something natural for a change like fruits or cheese.
Move out of your chair every 30 minutes
Because there are so many distractions that come with working from home, you may be tempted to work straight when you can. But studies show that you need to rest your eyes every 20 minutes, look at something green in order for the surface to moisturize itself. Also, getting stuck in an online home based job for hours on end will give you wrist and back strain. To prevent this problem, you have to move out of that chair every 30 minutes or so. Stretch out. Walk around. Clear your mind. Then come back for another round of action.
Take Coffee Breaks or Lunch Breaks
They say for every 3 hours of constant work, 30 minutes to 1 hour of coffee break is needed. This isn’t just a physical necessity too. When a home based business or home based jobs are involved, breaks are needed to clear your mind. They say conversation will help get your mind working which will be helpful for the task at hand even when it is parallel conversation that’s involved.
No matter what your home based business is or how strenuous work from home will turn out to be, changing your lifestyle or work habits a little bit at a time will not only give you more tenacity to tackle bigger challenges, but it will give you much more personality for a life outside your career as well.
