What motivates you? What gets you fired up and your juices flowing? What vision of the future excites you? Being inspired temporarily is easy for many people. However, it is keeping that motivation level up and making changes in life that is more difficult. What is it that changes between getting up in the morning excited to face the day to becoming so tired you can’t wait to go to bed? Somewhere in between the point you started off with your goals and the quitting point, you lost the very thing that was driving your energy level and motivation. This is the thing you have to seek to avoid. Remember to surround yourself by supportive and positive people, watch inspiring and uplifting movies, and remind yourself of your goal(s) on a daily basis. Post your Life License Certificate in a place where you’ll easily see it every day. It will be a reminder of the promise you’ve made to yourself. Inspirational Stories 1. Did you know motivational speaker Jim Rohn was a college drop-out and in great debt? In his mid-twenties, he decided to get more out of life and make a change. He did just that. By the time he turned 31 years old, he was a millionaire and a great success. 2. Another very well-known inspirational story is that of the authors of best-selling book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul. Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen marketed their books to over 100 publishes over two years with no success. During those two years, they made cold calls, networked, and marketed themselves until they finally found a struggling publisher who agreed to publish their book. These two authors are now multi-millionaires and the one book became part of a complete best-selling series! 3. You may already have heard of this one. Did you also know that Thomas Edison failed over 10,000 before he succeeded in creating the light bulb? 10,000 failed attempts! How many of us give up after just one attempt!? These are just 3 of hundreds of examples of people that did not take “no” for an answer. People that chose to succeed against all odds. Persistence pays and success is obtainable by everyone. People who have obtained success in their lives don’t have an extra amount of hours in their day. They don’t have special degrees or educational background. A lot of them don’t even have a special talent that is not obtainable by others. The one thing they do have is tenacity. They stumble and get back up. They see obstacles as opportunities to grow and learn something new. Some people see obstacles as blessings enabling them to desire their goal even more passionately, to be even more grateful for having the vision and feelings of accomplishing that goal already in their heart, and for the opportunity to be an inspiration to others. Are you one of these people? Do you want to live your life as a source of inspiration for the people around you? You are fully capable of this and have everything it takes to succeed. All you have to do is start moving towards the direction of your goals, be consistent, and follow through. Tips for Staying Motivated To reach your goals, you must be patient, persistent, and consistent. Take it one day at a time but don’t lose sight of the finishing line. Envision your goal and feel it. Feel what it will be like when you arrive at that finishing line and are able to say “I did it.” “I created the change I wanted to see in my life.” “I took control of the direction of my career.” “I made my business succeed this year.” “I feel fulfillment in what I’m doing.” “I am finally able to spend more time with my spouse and children.” Make sure to write down your goals, use the worksheets in this book, and visualize what your life will be like when you make the changes you want. When making a decision, ask yourself: “Will doing this get me closer or farther from my goal(s) in life?” Doing this on a regular basis is not only a constant reminder of what you want to achieve but it will also strengthen your motivation to get there. Most of us are not aware of the impact our daily actions and choices have on our overall life and goal plan. This is where life coaching comes in. In order to get from the place you are in life right now to where you want to be, you must assess and comprehensively evaluate what you have been doing so far. As Albert Einstein said, "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." This requires a neutral third party to help us evaluate our goals, our actions, and how we can most quickly get to our goals. It’s a very difficult thing to do on your own and one of the most powerful ways in which people use life coaches. A life coach gives you a neutral and honest perspective. They are trained to work with people to create change, overcome obstacles and self limiting thoughts and behavior, set manageable goals, and reach new levels of success in their professional and personal life. A life coach will hold you accountable, hold a mirror to you reflecting your strengths and areas that need development, and motivate you to move beyond your comfort zone to create the success you want to achieve in your life.
