A lot of products today promise to fight aging and maintain youthfulness. True, many people worry about getting old. Both men and women dread old age and the weaknesses that it brings with it. From beauty potions to vitamin supplements, store shelves are filled to the brim with anti aging products. And why not, it is lucrative business. People have been eternally searching for the mythical fountain of youth. There is, however, one thing you can do to stay young naturally. Exercise improves your total well being. It enhances physical and psychological health.
Exercise benefits the whole body. Aerobic exercise, specifically, strengthens the heart muscles. A strong heart efficiently pumps more blood into the body. Consequently it lowers the heart rate and puts less stress to the heart. It also lowers the risk of stroke because consistent exercise lowers blood pressure. People however, who have pre existing cardiovascular diseases should get a clearance from their doctor before starting an exercise program. The digestive system is regulated with exercise. Bowel movements become regular and constipation is prevented. Blood sugar is also regulated and may prevent the development of Type II Diabetes. Exercise increases bone density leading to prevention of fractures and osteoporosis.
Exercise alleviates physical and emotional stress. Experts believe that stress is the most common cause of disease in our world today. Stress lowers the body's ability to fight off diseases. When you relieve stress, you strengthen your immune system, making you less likely to get sick. Regular exercise increases the level of endorphins which are the body's natural painkillers. Exercise generally decreases depression and anxiety which leads to better personal productivity. It improves intellectual capacity because exercise helps improve your concentration. Exercise improves sleep. So many people have trouble sleeping because of mental and emotional stress. Exercising lessens muscle tension and makes it easier to relax and sleep soundly.
Exercise is essential to both losing and maintaining weight. Being overweight and obese predisposes us more to various health problems. Aside from making us more attractive, being at a healthy weight prevents age related health problems. Exercise makes our skin glow and become more elastic. It reduces wrinkles, tightens the skin and pulls up sagging body parts over time. Exercise subtracts years from your appearance. It even affects the way you carry yourself. It increases confidence and self esteem. It makes you walk tall.
It cannot be denied that exercise promotes a younger and healthier body. True, we cannot stop the hands of time. We can, however, prolong our youthfulness by making sure that we exercise regularly. Taking good care of ourselves is important. Exercise keeps us young by making our bodies perform and look better. Exercise is not skin deep. Done regularly, exercise will give us the privilege of aging gracefully.
