If you look at specific aspects of a car's appearance then it can be somewhat obvious to spot something that has been clocked. If the bonnet and bumpers of the front of the car are chipped to a great extent then it is obvious that the car has undergone many a journey. If the front-end of a car is telling you about each and every mile it has traveled, then do not make the purchase.

Also superb for the spotting of clocking is the accelerator, brake and clutch pedals. If you can see that the pedals are worn, that there is a great deal of wear on the floor of the foot well, then it stands to reason that a car has done 100,000 miles, as opposed to 10,000 miles. Car steering wheels invariably wear quite a lot, often causing a sheen - use this as a clue, also.

One final thing that you should constantly do, is research the mileage of cars comparable to the one you are considering buying. The normal amount of miles that a motorcar travels on a yearly basis is 10,000. So, if a fifteen year old car has 2,000 miles on the clock, just do not buy it - don't even go to look at it!
