A blog is a form of mass communication and information sharing. Blogs can influence elections, corporate policy and bring people together for a cause. With this in mind, think of a blog as a journal to your thoughts. Let others read your thoughts, comment about these thoughts and add their own opinions and stories to your blog (journal).

Recently the down throw of the government in Egypt was influenced by bloggers who posted information on their blog site. The current demonstrations against big business and banks in the United States were initiated from both blogs and social media sites. Keep your opinions going by blogging and you will find results.

When starting a blog, there are several steps that need to be taken. These steps will ensure that your blog is read and the thread keeps going. Do not be like some bloggers who just let their sites die.
As you look for blog sites, find those that match your requirements. There are blog sites that are free, some are minimal charge, and some require you to be a member. Find out what returns of the blog site interests you and will give you the most value.

Blogs can be either private or personal or they can be available to everyone on the web. If you want internet visitors or just friends and family to read and comment about your blogs, be sure to password protect your blogs. If your blog is an internet selling mechanism or a public forum, then no passwords are required.

After setting up your blog, wisdom would dictate that you write a few test posts. Adjustment may be needed to get the style and prose that you feel would be most effective. Do not hesitate to make changes as needed. When you have achieved the perfect blog situation, explore ideas and sites for publishing.

Publishing your blog can be accomplished by sending the URL of your website to your contacts. If you are using your blog as a sales medium, make your blog informative and give reasons why your contacts should click on your URL and go to your site. Blogging will also give your feedback on your site, products and services and may also give you an idea of what to change. Blogging can help you grow your business. Post your URL on other blogging sites.

Update your blog frequently. Once a week is a good benchmark and will help you establish a reader base. Your readers will return to your site often if they find the information updated and the posts new. Frequent bloggers will go to a site only to find that the information is months or possibly years old. This is discouraging and frustrating and will actually cause reputation problems.
Be patient if no one is visiting your blog. The web is worldwide and eventually your blog will be found. Once you have established a reader base, other readers will flock to your site, click on your URL, click on advertising media, and help provide you increase your income.

Be sincere, dedicated and professional. Avoid slang, abbreviations, or ideas that only you know. Remember that your blogs are also information sites andneed to be kept clean.
