Smoking is one of the hardest things to try to quit. An addiction to nicotine and the pleasure we get from smoking just makes it difficult to break the habit of smoking.

There are many ways to try to quit smoking from going cold turkey to using acupuncture. Not every method works for everyone and for me that was the case. Using nicotine replacement therapy did not work for me. I would have a nicotine patch on my arm nicotine gum in my mouth and still I would light up a cigarette. I know, how stupid is that?

Finally I had enough. I'm a strong willed person and I decided to try one last time to quit smoking. I threw away all my cigarettes, put away the ashtrays in my home and lined up a gazillion projects to keep me busy and keep my mind off of smoking. Did it work? NO! I resigned myself to be a smoker forever.

Then my mother, believe it or not, told me how she quit smoking. I thought it was the prescription that the doctor had given her that finally allowed her to quit but I was wrong. I had tried the prescription stuff but it made me sick and I couldn't take it. Imagine my surprise when Mom revealed what she really used to quit her 30 year smoking habit. It was hypnosis! I was floored! I also didn't think it would work. I didn't believe in that kind of hokey stuff.

Chagrined, I downloaded an MP3 thinking what the heck it can't hurt. I loaded that little file into my MP3 player and listening to it for the first time I thought it was hogwash. This will never do anything for me, I thought. But, listening to an MP3 wasn't painful and didn't involve a lot of costly patches and gum and best of all I could continue to smoke while telling myself I was working on quitting. It was a win, win situation.

I set the hypnosis mp3 to play in my regular rotation of my player 3 times during the day. I just went along with my regular life still smoking. Then, I just forgot about it. The MP3 was still in my player and I listened to it as I went about my day. After about 2 weeks I noticed that I didn't seem to be smoking as much as I used to.

Then I started thinking about it when I would light a cigarette. It just didn't give me the same pleasure it did before. Maybe there was something to this hypnosis stuff. After 4 weeks of listening to that little MP3 file 3 times a day I just didn't want to smoke anymore. I actually had no desire to light up a cigarette, even with my morning coffee.

I know some people are thinking "yeah right", but believe me, I was just like you. I didn't think it would work either. But I'm living, non-smoking proof that hypnosis to stop smoking does work. Give it a try like I did, what have you got to lose?
