The future presents loads of opportunities and it is sad to see that there are some organizations who fail to turn these opportunities into reality. In many cases, it is not a matter of merely having a bad luck. To most organizations, they fail at reaching their full potential due to the kind of leaders they have. This simply emphasizes the need for effective leadership training, which most leaders consider as a good excuse to spend some time away from the humdrum of their daily work - when it should not be. Leadership development training programs are aimed at helping leaders become better at what they do best, and it is only fitting that these programs should be designed to help leaders improve their skills and capabilities. As a start, organizations should have a deeper appreciation of what leadership training programs are. While most people think that these programs merely give leaders a better understanding of what leadership means and what leadership styles best fit certain situations, these programs should not end there. There are several other topics that can be discussed during these training programs and these can include topics like business acumen, finance for non-financial managers, coaching, and strategic thinking. And it is no longer a surprise that more and more organizations are starting to give preference to leadership development programs that involve some form of strategic thinking workshop. Workshops on strategic thinking can be facilitated by learning and development personnel within the organization. However, it is often deemed more beneficial to leverage the expertise of third party management consultants to deliver the applied strategic thinking workshop. In this way, the learning and development workshop can remain unbiased. But why consider a strategic thinking workshop over other forms of leadership training programs? An effective workshop on applied strategic thinking can help leaders find a balance between meeting current requirements and expectations, and the possibilities of tomorrow. It can help leaders keep an eye not only on opportunities, but also on issues and concerns that can affect future organizational results. In this way, leaders can become more forward thinking in living up to their every day roles. Leadership training programs need not concentrate only on making leaders understand what leadership is. They must also present opportunities for leaders to learn more about the practical sides of the different roles they have to play every single working day so they can be more effective in delivering successful results.

The renewable energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation, with solar power playing a central role.
