What is Your Marketing Strategy?

Every business owner needs to go into business with an education. You can’t just say, “I want to be an Internet Marketer and make a million dollars by Friday.” It is the same for doctors, lawyers, engineers, and fashion designers. You don’t want go to the hospital and have some guy tell you that he is going to operate on you and his qualifications are that he is a professional wood worker. True that both he and the surgeon know how to cut things but I would rather have a real trained and educated surgeon.

Your goal as a business is the same as everyone else, whether big or small, to get new customers and keep the ones you already have. You need to have a marketing strategy that will use the internet to find them and keep them. You just need the write education and the right marketing plan. Once you have the right marketing design and strategy in place it will keep working for you forever.

Research and education is going to be the key to developing a good marketing strategy. There are many new great software packages that automate the process, but you still need marketing skills and to know how to think like a marketer. Finding out as much as you can about your clients, their tendencies on the web, where they look for information about your particular service is important. It is also important to know as much about their demographics as possible to custom tailor a marketing strategy to suit their needs and interests and capture their attention. Once you find out these things as well as every other bit of information that is pertinent to your industry find what ways are being used to attract them. What are your competitors doing? Is it working? How can it be improved? Also look at where they are doing their advertising and find ways to do it better in those locations.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel. A lot of the work has been done by others in your field to develop a marketing strategy trying to take advantage of the web. Build on their strengths, strengthen your weaknesses, and avoid the failures. This is where books come in to play. There are a number of good marketing books for the internet that are not big and easy to understand. Remember; this is your new business, don’t go in blind.

At first friends and family members who do not understand your goals and dreams will say that you are wasting your time, that you don't have what it takes to market effectively on the web or that your strategy won't be effective. Don't listen to those voices. The knowledge is out there for you to take advantage of that will show you how to get it done right.

There are plenty of people to outsource parts of your marketing to for the parts that you do not know how to do whether it is doing graphics, sales letter or web design. There are those that can make your website optimized for search engines so that you are easier to find. There are so many resources available to you that can help make you a success that is actually affordable.

The web is a highly profitable place to business. Education and research will allow you to develop a successful marketing strategy. It will take time and learning but once you finally get the right marketing strategy in place the web will bring you customers in no time.
