Stress is a killer. The modern age has brought many advances in medicine that have helped us cure and prevent many major diseases. Stress is one disease that has not been eradicated and in fact it is one that is affecting more and more people each year, especially in times like these when many people are losing not only their jobs but their families and homes as well.

The side effects of stress manifest themselves in many different ways in different people, it is a debilitating disease that ruins many lives and in some cases can often lead to death.

There are many and varied reasons that stress can affect a person, ranging from loss of a loved one or breakdown of a relationship to health issues and work or family problems. Once someone starts to get stressed it can engulf them very quickly if it is not dealt with straight away.

The best way to not get too stressed is to of course prevent it before it starts, one way of achieving that is to make sure you have a good healthy diet. Everyone knows that junk food is bad for them, eating too much of it will make you gain weight and is a major cause of depression. Healthy, unprocessed foods are on the other hand what we were made to eat, they help keep us in better shape, not only physically but mentally as well. Always buy unprocessed foods that were grown by mother nature, not foods that have a long shelf life and contain lots of ingredients you do not know.

Research has also shown that exercise can also be a big help in stress prevention. If you have ever run or exercised you will have experienced the endorphin rush that you get after a good workout, and this can in turn help positively change your mood. Regular exercise keeps your body in better shape and helps keep the stress away, burning calories will help you feel better and stronger in your mind and your body.

If someone suffering with stress becomes overwhelmed and cannot cope, then there are man made solutions to get over the hump, so to speak. Therapy is one solution that has helped millions of people, and prescription drugs are another. Many times a Doctor will prescribe a patient drugs if there is no alte
ative, but there are also many homeopathic cures and vitamins that have proven very affective in helping patients get over their stress.

There are other things that are often forgotten these days for diseases like stress. If you have good family and friends to help support you, this can be a major tool in the battle against this disease. If you have people that really love and care about you then they should be able to let you lean on them a bit until you can get back on your feet again. Having a support team can really help someone get through stress, remember it is not weak to ask for help, on the contrary, it shows that you have strength to take the first step in battling your disease.
