Homes could be selling like hot cakes, according to founder and creative genius, Ferdinand Kjaerulff, of Denmark’s online interior design company, LoveMyHome.

Styling and designing a home online seems a simple concept and one that has been used with great success for several decades in the United States. Although such an “interior decorator” tool only arrived in Denmark relatively recently, LoveMyHome has taken the concept a giant step forward by devising an interactive display by which potential buyers can style and design a home for themselves.

According to a recent study by the United States’ Real Estate Agents Association, homes that have been subject to a reasonable degree of styling and design sold four times as fast as other homes.

In Denmark, too, there is evidence that the whole process of real estate sales needs speeding up. Recent reports reveal that at the end of 2010 there were 5,074 more homes for sale than at the end of 2009. The time taken to conclude a sale has seriously gone down hill.

A perfect illustration of the way in which potential buyers can style and design their intended new home is offered by the interactive 3D tool, www.lovemyhome.dk, where design ideas and concepts can be created, edited and stored.

Although residential design and styling might still be at a relatively early stage in Denmark, such interactive, user-friendly design and decorating tools open up endless possibilities.
