Breastfeeding is beneficial for both mother and baby in several ways. However, it requires extra care and proper information before breast-feeding. Below is some helpful information that anyone feeding mothers should be aware of:
1st Breast-feeding mothers should avoid taking medicines, because these will be referred to the baby through the breast milk amount. Medicines can sometimes affect milk supply. Even a small amount of some drugs can harm your baby. There are several medications that can cause infant allergies. It is better to avoid drug use, as far as possible, if you are feeding your child.
Clearly tell your doctor that you are breast-feeding mothers, so that he can keep that in mind, and given medication for you. Your doctor may be able to change the drug, which can harm the baby. Remember that antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, sulfa drugs, contrimoxazole tetracyclines, peninillins, nalidixic acid, metronidazole, nitrofurantoin and nayobiocin should be avoided in nursing mothers.
Mother's milk should not be given until the baby of any potentially harmful drug is given to the mother. During this time, the baby may be given artificial milk with a spoon.
