Do you want to grow? Do you feel like you’re stuck? Yet, you know there’s more. Here’s the real deal, boiled-down, straight-for-the-jugular quick version of what needs to be done. And, fact of the matter, you probably know this already deep down somewhere inside you.

1. Increase your self awareness. Open your eyes and begin to take notice of what you think, believe, feel and do.

2. Really examine WHY it is that you think, feel or act that way. Ask WHY?

3. Make changes NOW. Replace false beliefs with truths. Think higher thoughts. Do different actions. You may have heard, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got.”

There you have it. As well, if you really want to grow and put your development into high gear, do this. Do what you fear. If you’re scared of doing something, that’s great. You know what, GO DO IT. Just run at it like a friggin madmen. So what if you fall flat on your face. Who cares, just do it. Just run straight at it. I mean, you only live once, right? You want an adrenaline rush, the heck with jumping out of a plane, go take some real life, day-to-day type activity that scares you. Pick up the phone and call that CEO. Get up off your butt, walk over, and ask that guy/gal out to dinner. Just go do it. When you’re running straight at something that scares the heck out of you, that’s when you’re LIVIN, that’s when you’re growing. Who cares if you fail or if it goes south. Laugh it off, really. You only live once. Be a warrior. Be bold.

Do you think David was scared when he faced Goliath? I’m sure he was. I mean here’s a dude that just towered over him…and David was just a boy. Just a BOY. But, do you know what? He put his faith and trust in God. Nobody, not even grown a%$ men were willing to step up to Goliath. And along comes David and says (I’ll paraphrase) “Who does this Philistine think he is? Nobody talks trash on The Living God. Nobody disrespects and dishonors the name of God. Let me at him.” Now, like I said, I’m sure he was still scared. But HE DIDN’T CARE. David ran straight at this dude, this giant in fact. Are you with me here? He’s only a boy and this is what he does. And he does it because he has faith. He has belief in God. He doesn’t worry about what others are going to think. He doesn’t entertain possible negative outcomes. Those aren’t even on the radar screen. He simply has BELIEF. He’s living for something other than just himself and he has pure belief that if he takes action and gets things in motion, that God will help him to finish and succeed.

So, anyways, do you know what this boy does? He standing there. He’s looking at this giant more that twice his size. And you know what he does? Get this. He stoops down on the ground and reaches for a stone. He puts that stone in his slingshot and and whips that stone hitting Goliath and killing him. Are you picturing this? I hope and ask that you are. I know for a fact that you’ve already heard this story and know it. That doesn’t matter. Have you ever really thought about it? Have you put yourself in David’s sandals? Do it. Put yourself in his shoes. Would you go toe-to-toe with Goliath? Scratch that. ARE YOU going toe-to-toe with the giants/obstacles/fears in your life?

So, my point, my challenge to to both you and me is to Be like David. Be a warrior. Do what you’re afraid of. Put your trust and faith in God and run straight at your fears. REACH FOR YOUR STONE. Success isn’t merely winning, it’s NOT being afraid of failing.
Oh yeah, and by the way, here’s the thing, this builds and grows your confidence in yourself and your trust in God. Each time you do something you’re afraid of, you gain self esteem points. That’s growth. And here’s another thing, your thoughts, feelings and actions feed themselves. When you do this just once, the next time it becomes easier, and the next time easier and easier and easier. Until one day, you’re just running at things and giants that make others run and hide.

Take care and we’ll talk soon,

Ron Kawatsky
