Swiss Air was the former national airline company of Switzerland, which was started in 1931 by merging two airline companies Ad Astra Aero and Balair; however, closed its operations in 2002, up to which time it operated its flights from the hubs of Zurich Airport, Geneva Cointrin, EuroAirport Basel-Mulouse-Freiburg, with a fleet size of 76 working on 157 destinations. Swissair operated very effectively taking its revenues very high and the airline community started calling it as ‘The Flying bank’ to go with the reputation of Swiss banking in the world’s eye. In 1997 the Swissair group was renamed SAirGroup carrying four subdivisions, namely SAirlines, SAirServices, SAirLogistics and SAirRelations, while the new organization was going on a ‘Hunter straegy’ expanding through acquisition of smaller companies, unfortunately it had to face an economic turndown following September 11 attacks in the US, and with the Swiss Federal Government’s assistance, it was kicking and alive till 2002. Later, Swiss International Air Lines was formed taking most of the routes of Swissair, also the planes and staff, although the SAirGroup company was on the process of liquidation, while the newly formed company was taken over by Lufthansa in 2005. Emirates Airlines is one of the 10 top ranking airline companies of the world both in terms of the revenue and in terms of passenger mileage factor and it is the flag carrier of UAE, operating from the hub of Dubai International Airport. It serves 107 destinations in its passenger flights. Emirates Airlines commenced its flight operations out of Dubai with just two aircraft- leased Boeing 737 and Airbus 300 B4, with quality of service as their goal in 1985 and today it operates with 160 aircrafts of wide range variety, serving 107 destinations, proving their commitment to quality service in every aspect of their business activity.
